Performers leading the peaceful protest march down Königstraße (King Street). .
Stuttgart 21 is a large railway development project projected to cost 7 to 12 billion euros. Since 2009, there have been WEEKLY protests agains the project. Reaching a peak of 100,000 demonstrators in 2010, numbers have since dwindled to the few hundred seen today, consisting mainly of seniors. We were told of hardcore activists, aging up to 86, who today continue to stand in front of trucks in a bid to disrupt construction efforts. Most end up being fined, while others serve days in prison. Their battle seems futile. More photos on Facebook. #stuttgart21
