Another perfect listen for when the Sandman is slow to arrive and it’s late...lush string arrangements and Ahmad Jamal? Yes please! True story - one of the first jazz records I ever owned (even before I had a turntable) and I found it curbside; someone was planning to throw it away and I wasn’t about to let that happen! “Ivy” is a fun, light tune on the A side, followed by a surprising cover that I love of “Never Never Land” (yes from “Peter Pan”). Then on the B side there’s “Ahmad’s Blues”- I can’t say it better so as the notes state this is a “‘it’s getting late out mood’ with mysterioso exclamations by the strings.” You really should look for this album, really well worth it.
