🚫 DONT let your lower back raise! Keep it flat to keep that core optimally engaged and reduce compensation.

✅DO reduce the range of motion if keeping the back flat is too tough. Bend the knees to shorten the lever arm.

🚫 DONT go past 90 degrees. This doesn’t do harm, but now we are just using momentum and losing hard work.

✅ DO control the motion all the way to perpendicular and down WITHOUT touching your heels to the floor to keep tension on the core!

I see many fail to these, and I don’t blame them. Try it now and respect the work you really need to accomplish this exercise🙌🏽

I’ve been seeing this idea of “no spend days/weeks” being promoted around the personal finance instagram world recently.

Ew.

A no spend week?

Sounds like a recipe for psychological disaster and a good way to save up 37 measly dollars and then quit and go on a spending binge.

Also sounds like going on a fad diet cleanse and working out twice a day for a week, losing 12 lbs and then quitting and gaining it back, plus some.

No thanks.

Instead, let’s implement small habits that pump out big results. Things that we can stick to for the long term, build on when we feel confident and don’t make us feel restricted and MISERABLE.

We wouldn’t advise our clients to do some ridiculous fad diet cleanse, so why would we do it to ourselves when it comes to our finances?

The similarities between fitness and finance are so strong. @ramit and @drnadolsky posted a few more that I loved that you need to check out.

💪Struggle to perform push-ups from the ground? One of my favorite variations to utilize for helping to build strength, tension, and positions is an eccentric only push-up with an Isometric hold at the bottom.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💪Eccentrics are great for building up strength in a movement you can't quite do a concentric rep with (like push-ups or pull-ups), but I find that by adding the isometric hold at the bottom it challenges you a little bit more as well as spends more time in the position that most people need the MOST help in.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
💪It's not uncommon to see people who struggle with push-ups do a great job on the way down, only to have a break in the chain on the way up and either let their hips slump or head jut forward. By performing this additional Isometric hold you can spend more time working on that specific position and coaching the things you want to see!⁣⁣

👉For programming, I'll usually add these on one day and then perform elevated/assisted push-ups on another day and a DB or BB press on a 3rd day if they're training that frequently. ⁣⁣

I get asked often how I do heavy back ext for glutes as it can make for an awkward set up.
.
Here’s how I do it + some tips:
.
🔸Get your feet and legs set how you want.
🔸Have your BIG AF DB set up close to the machine.
🔸Take the dumbbell (30-60+lbs - if you’re under 30lbs, a 25lb plate works best) and place one end on the foot of the machine.
🔸Then with both arms, wrap your forearms around the end, pulling the DB to your chest.
🔸This also helps with keeping the upper back round (for Glute focus).
🔸Once in position, press the quads and hips into the pads using your glutes to bring the hips just to extension (no further).
.
Tips:
🔹If you don’t have a flat end DB, follow the above steps but hold the DB the opposite way (like a zercher squat rolled up in your arms).
🔹Turn the toes out slightly for a SERIOUS burn.
🔹Make sure the pads are set well below the pelvis so the spine doesn’t go into flexion at the bottom and your hip bones don’t get mutilated by the metal 🙃.
