Chris a business man and fitness enthusiast, so he’s always in the gym early working hard to achieve his strength goals! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
December was a chance for us to try getting leaner before Christmas but also to help pack on some size and strength! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I asked him some questions on what helped him make such a change:
J: How have you eaten differently than over Christmas? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
C: Broadly, what I’m eating hasn’t really changed, it’s just that I’m eating a bit more of it. (We agreed to get leaner in December in order to help his body grow more when he introduced more food). And drinking double the water I was drinking! (As he trains harder and heavier, so does his hydration levels). I try to avoid the obvious things like refined sugar and trans/hydrogenated fats, but other than that don’t limit myself too much.
When I was getting leaner, I’d have for example eaten chilli with veg, I’d now go for rice or potatoes, something a bit more carby. (After cutting down on carbohydrates whilst getting leaner, the increase in insulin sensitivity helped him respond better when more carbs were introduced into his diet) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
J: What’s made it easier to stick to your diet? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
C: Consistently eating at the same times, every 2-3 hours, so I rarely feel hungry so I’m less likely to cheat (consistently eating throughout the day he was able to get more calories in and curb cravings for those pesky high fat high carb foods, and over eat subsequently adding more body fat than wanted) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
