Some jumping and agility work @ko.zone from the other day. Working the rope drill included some burpee 30lbs @xdfitofficial medicine ball throws with lateral jumping. Wanted to do so rotational strength work so added some over the rope tire throws, aswell. It was great testing out my new @officialgasp performance compression pants they worked flawlessly. DOES THE BOTTOM OF YOUR FOOT CRAMP UP?

👣A lot of people get foot cramps in the Bulgarian Split Squat. The reason this cramping happens is the position we put our foot in. When the foot is on the bench, our ankle, foot, and toes are plantarflexed or pointed, which puts the muscles in the bottom of the foot in a very short position. And when muscles get put in their shortest positions, they have a tendency to cramp.😲
.
So a remedy is to get the foot and ankle out of that point. Using a barbell instead does just that. This is also good for those who have really tight hip flexors and can't sit into the bottom that well due to them. Now the bar can be a bit uncomfortable so try wrapping a towel, sweatshirt, or pad around it to make it more comfortable and then you can just focus on making all the gainz.💪🏻

Mit wenigen Wiederholungen kann man auch sehr gut Muskulatur aufbauen. Viele Wiederholungen haben auch positive Effekte auf deine Kraft.

Zu sagen, dass das eine ausschließlich nur einen Effekt begünstigt, wäre falsch. Es ist eher als Kontinuum zu betrachten. Je weniger Wiederholungen, um so höher kann das Gewicht auf der Hantelstange sein - umso mehr mechanische Belastung hat man. Je höher die Anzahl der Wiederholungen, desto größer die Effekte auf den Stoffwechsel.

The deadlift made simple.
.
Whenever I see someone try to learn the deadlift on their own, I cringe.
.
Not because they're giving it a go. I actually applaud that!!
.
But more for the fact they don't know where to start. So they go straight for the barbell.
.
That's a terrible choice if you have never done it before.
.
I actually remember being handed a broomstick to deadlift with, when all my mates at TAFE were lifting heavy weights.
.
My form was shit, so my TAFE lecturer told me to put the bar down and use the broomstick.
.
My mates all laughed and I was humiliated.
.
In hindsight, I'm very thankful.
.
Because I surely would have injured myself back then, had my mentor not stepped in.
.
You don't have to be humiliated to learn this exercise, though.
.
All you need to do is grab a dumbbell instead.
.
It's so much easier to learn!
.
Here's how to do it:
1) Place the dumbbell (DB) vertically on the floor.
2) Stand over the top of it.
3) Push your hips back and reach down for the weight
4) Tuck your elbows in, as if trying to break the weight
5) Push the DB away from the floor and use your hips to stand you up
6) Squeeze your butt tight at the top
7) Push your hips back and place the DB between your feet where it started
8) Rinse and repeat
.
Start light, that's the best piece of advice I can give you. .
Learn the motion - it's a backwards-forwards movement. .
Pretty much all hips, no knees.
.

Day 71, the start of week 11. Im switching up the program a bit for the next few weeks to work on speed, barbell pressing and to reintroduce running into my training. Today, I planned to use accommodating resistance on squats, do some incline barball presses and finish with a short run. The warm-up was 5x15 toes to bar, 1 minute quadruplexing each side, 1 minute of walking in the belt squat and a minute walking with what I call the "rumble bar." I did 15 total sets of squats. First, 5 doubles of 185 with 60+lbs of band tension for 245 at the top, 5 singles of 205 for 265 at the top and 225 plus bands for my last 5 singles for 285 at the top. The goal is to complete each double or single without any appreciable drop in bar speed. So, final clip from my performance at PSM Barbell’s Holiday Havoc. So, deadlift was not feeling groovy during warmups, and I was not looking forward to- what was supposed to be- an easy opener @ 688 lbs. I had to grind up a sloppy start, but I got it. Then I got angry enough to get a good setup with 722 lbs. That weight has been pretty much a guarantee for me lately. I missed my attempt at 755 lbs- another bad setup.
I ended up with a 887/518/722 total, somehow winning Best Lifter. Wish my bench wasn’t such a drawback, but I’m figuring it out and getting on through the neck injury. Another thanks to @jkk_mt for #dryneedling voodoo and @levelheadeddoc for chiro magic.
