Kronk's New Groove ~ G ~ 2005 | Kronk desperately tries to find ways to impress, whom he can never please. | QUOTE: "My precious! Kronk just wants to keep it. We must not let him. No!" | For a straight to DVD movie this film isn't that bad because it did keep me interested, but comparing it to Emperor's New Groove it's just not even a competition. I actually wasn't expecting much from this film, and I guess I got gifted with a little more than I thought so because I was entertained; I love how they revived the same voice actors with their iconic character. Kronk has always been a great character and it seems like a good idea to star him in a sequel. Luckily, it works, but it's just not the same. Kuzco as the star fit in so perfectly, and Kronk just doesn't have enough to display. The story feels like three TV episodes conjoined into one movie, and it should've a bit flowed better. Like I said, I can't beg for much for a sequel not in theaters, but I was hoping for a more linear story. The returning characters all act themselves and how they should, it's just a shame to see each of them appear in only one of the three "segments" (all except for Kronk). I wasn't put down by the actual motivation, but it's just too simple and not much thought is put into the whole lying to impress your father scenario. Overall, Kronk's New Groove is an entertaining film that I know young children will love, but compositionally it could've been tweaked to be a little bit better. 5/10.
