Here it is! Our washing machine we made up in honor of our Skagway friends and Elemental Immersion peeps! The #dallastribe has learned it and now it will be like our secret handshake between the Dallas and Skagway tribes!

An acroyoga washing machine is a sequence of poses and transitions that can be repeated over and over, because you end where you started. In honor of the acroyoga tribe in Skagway, Alaska, we call this washing machine the "Skagway Roll". The day after we returned from the Skagway Elemental Immersion, Lillian and I still had some left over Alaskan energy that we had shared with our new tribe in the north, so we channeled it into this washing machine and taught it to our home acro tribe here in Dallas during the Friday class we subbed on behalf of our teachers, @maxandlizacro.
Aside from our very first class, we have always made up our own washing machines to teach instead of teaching ones from other people. Our yoga mentor, @jparum, taught us to seek out what felt good in our bodies and teach that, so that's why we spend the time to play and come up with our own creations. Acroyoga is an endless well of movement co-creation. The poses and transitions cannot exist without the cooperation between flyer, base, and spotter. This washing machine is not the most difficult washing machine we've created, but it contains transitions that require the flyer and base to coordinate their timing to achieve the right synchronization to make each movement smooth.
We felt like this washing machine reminded us of our time in Skagway, because while we were there with that tribe, we felt like everyone was perfectly in sync. We simply vibed so well together as a group. To our Skagway acroyoga tribe: we just left you and we already miss you so much. This one's for you!
