It's MACRO MONDAY again!

This week we are featuring an odd little fish called the Sea Moth or Little Dragon Fish.

Sea Moths have specially adapted pelvic fins which allow them to walk along the sea bed.
Great critters to find whilst muck diving here on our house reef!

Their body is also covered in hard bony plates giving them a protective armour so complete that they shed the whole structure in one piece when growing! 📷 @tinoherrmann.ig

Here are Scuba Junkies July/August candidates!
And what a great bunch they are!
Kim, Vlad, Jo, Lisa, Ian, Laurel, Gina and Georgia!! After 2 weeks of intense training with our amazing Course Director @scubaamy the team are Semporna bound today to take part in the 2 day Instructor Examinations.

Good Luck Guys! We know you will make us proud!

A HUGE congratulations to this lot who passed the PADI IE today! Well done guys! Ready to be unleashed into the underwater world to change lives on a daily basis!
You all deserve it 100%. Now for the celebrations!

@scuba_junkie 's new instructors 😍😍😍

On one of our amazing house reef night dives this week at @scuba_junkie we got to see the elusive blue ring octopus AND a flamboyant cuttlefish!
It's hard to beat that in the logbook!
What is your best logbook entry?

This week on the way to the dive sites at @sj_sangalaki our team spotted 8 devil rays!

Once in the water they were treated to 9 manta rays including their old friend 'Black Murphy' 😍

Have you ever been face to face with a tornado of schooling barracuda?
It's pretty awesome!

At the amazing Sipadan and with the help of our brilliant guides, we find this resident school almost every day.

Along with all the other fantastic marine life in the waters around this protected paradise, the barracuda school is just one of the awesome sights at Sipadan and is high on every divers 'things to see' list! 📷@steveclay

This fuzzy little critter is an Orangutan Crab!

Orangutan crabs have a tiny body measuring less than an inch with extra long arms!

They are covered in orange hair and mainly live in bubble corals.
For extra camouflage they are often seen with extra bits of coral and sand on their coats.
His housemate is the equally cute bubble coral shrimp!

You can see where the name comes from, they really do look like a mini crustacean version of of an orangutan!

We can totally imagine them swinging from coral to coral in their underwater jungle!! How cool would that be?

Thanks to 📷@justtwodivers for this fab picture!

Our beautiful jetty, beach and boats from above!

We feel lucky every day to call this little part of paradise our home!

Epic dive sites, a gazillion turtles, macro to die for, passionate staff, a friendly local community and spectacular sunsets!
Come and visit us for a diving holiday, and experience the Scuba Junkie way of life for a while! 🌴💚🌴💚🌴💚🌴💚🌴 📷 @justtwodivers

This week is yet again, the epic Artificial Reef.

This time not for the small stuff though.

Despite poor visibility, some of our very lucky guests were treated to a fly by, by a fever of 20+ eagle rays!

The photo comes courtesy of google as unluckily, none of our guests had cameras...

Is it a dolphin?
Is it a whaleshark?
No! It's a proboscis monkey!!! Its not always about marine life here in Sabah!
This mornings guests couldn't quite believe their eyes on the boat ride out to Mabul this morning, when our eagle eyed captain Afzal spotted this little dude swimming close to one of the islands!

How awesome is that! 📷@rarathompson

This magnificent whale shark is just peacefully and smoothly cruising in Thai waters. How stunning! 📷@samvisualz

Our little island paradise in Nusa Lembongan 😍.. Our awesome divers joining us for post dive Bintangs at sunset, with the best seats in the house, right outside the dive centre and @mega_cottage 🌅🌴👌🏼

“Life isn't black and white. It's a million gray areas, don't you find?” - Ridley Scott
Can you see the gray areas in this image? Black and White images can be striking and bold. Fun Fact: Great white sharks are grey with a white underbelly, from where they get their name. They have a streamlined shape and powerful tails that propel them through the water at over 60km per hour!

That’s why I love to go on adventures and expeditions with big animals like this American crocodile. Live life to its fullest whenever you get the chance.
