Five years ago today I graduated college. What the actual fuck, five years already?! Things you may not know about al pal - I loved college and I LOVED learning, but I struggled with exams. I was super anxious and actually did sub-par on some finals (not organic chem or biochem though, I'm strange ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ). Many of my peers went onto grad school, vet school, pharmacy school and medical school - I'm V V V proud of them and not surprised at all by their accomplishments. Furthering my education wasn't for me though, and that's ok ๐Ÿค—
What's even crazier? My career is in Information management and software development ๐ŸคฃAND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! One part of my job I even work with drones!
Just a little reminder if anyone is struggling and feeling like you're not good enough: For starters, I don't believe our education system is effective for humans today. Secondly, you're not alone. I used to compare myself to others and how successful and bright their futures looked that I forgot that I was the one to define "success" for ME. I had no idea I would think data mining/software analysis would be the cats meow. It took some mediocre at best jobs to find what fit me, but experience fam, let me tell ya!
Oh yeah and I lost a little bit of weight in the past 5 years. Just a little.
Side note:genetics degree, let's geek out nerds ๐Ÿค“

If you let every rough wind deter you from your goals, you'd never achieve them! Sometimes instead of fighting against the flow, go with it and see where it will take you. Sometime we are so stuck doing it one way that don't see that there could be a better way. Don't be scared of change, I know it can be scary but sometimes it's for the best. I'm a creature of habit but I also love being spontaneous! Sometimes you NEED setbacks to remind you to stay focus. You need to gain weight or loose muscle to remind you that you canโ€™t ever take it easy itโ€™s too hard to come back. Sometimes a setback can actually be a platform for the comeback you needed. I've learned that sometime the detours you avoid could be the road God has laid for you. Sometime stepping out and faith is the best way to start/continue your journey. After each set, I look down at my hands to make sure my thumbs are still attached ๐Ÿ˜–. Hook grip is uncomfortable and a bit painful since I am not conditioned to it, but quite effective, so I must press on.๐Ÿ˜ซ
Either way, decided to change it a little and do a semi reset of the weight before each lift, this way I am sure to hit my cues. The first set is the front angle, those look okay, the side, on the last two reps, the bar rolled forward, causing me to break form, hence a slight hitch at the top of the lift.
My cues are:
1)Hands right outside of my calves
2)Hips back
3)Spine neutral
4)Shoulders behind the bar
5)Gaze facing forward
6)Engage lats

The final step of the kettlebells swing - the swing! Similar to the pendulum swing, hike the kettlebells back, and as you feel the weight start to fall quickly stand up! Allow the bell to "float" at eye length and then the bell will naturally fall back behind your legs. Then repeat!

DO NOT LET THE KETTLEBELL GO OVER YOUR HEAD! This leads to hyper extending the back and there is always a risk of dropping it on your head ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Over the past 2.5 months, my diet has been shit, too much eating out, junk food, fast food, fried foods. With the stress of Harvey among other things, paired with just not caring, I've gained back 12lbs, and majority of it is in my stomach aka my "worst trouble area."
Even though I go to the gym religiously, there is nothing ๐Ÿšซ I can do to work off bad nutrition choices, and because I was working out daily, the weight gain was gradual and I didn't really notice it right away, or just wrote it off as "bloat," lol at some point, it's not just bloat anymore. ๐Ÿ™Š
So I just wanted to put that out there, some of you may have noticed, some maybe not, but what matters is that I've noticed it. I'm not going to hide from it, I am honest and will put it out there, I hope to draw motivation and focus from my #fitfam out there and get my focus shifted back to the straight and narrow, I can't let myself get back to that point again. #barpath and #belly ๐Ÿ˜ง

Throwback of my first progress pic ever during last years 250kchallenge. It may not seem like much to you, but this was right after I chucked some F bombs at my insecurities and decided to take charge of my life. It was the first time ever that I decided to do a transformation challenge AND get on social media. This small change in January gave me the damn confidence in myself to KEEP PUSHING! Within 6 months, Iโ€™ve gotten in the BEST shape of my life, got recognized and sponsored by two of the best supplement companies in the world, AND gained confidence to make changes like going after my MBA, leaving my place of employment since high school, being more active with my family โค๏ธ.
