Karen's Bull - She worked her tail off for this bull, starting this summer when she began her preparations!
Her hunt started off very positive, getting into the bugling bulls often, and having some options!
After missing a giant herd bull on day two, the rollercoaster ride started to take a dive!
Zach decided that they'd better check the guns accuracy again, and discovered that the scope had been knocked off its zero. It was somewhat of a relief to know that it was the gun that was off! They spent Sunday evening getting everything dialed back in.
For the next three days, Karen and Zach hunted alone, as the rest of the family had to go back to work. They had a hard time locating bulls. Zach and Karen tried hunting several areas, but couldn't turn up anything to make a play on.
By Wednesday afternoon, they were at the lowest of lows, mentally. Zach called McCade at lunch time and talked about how discouraged they were getting. They were putting in the work, but just couldn't get into the elk!
McCade sympathized with Zach, and encouraged them to not give up! "It'll happen!" He told Zach. "Just don't give up!"
Wednesday night, at around 7 pm, McCade got a call from Zach. "Tell me the good news!" McCade answered. "We've got one down!" Zach replied.
McCade grabbed his pack and headed for elk camp. To be continued...
