Vortex - Kings Island
When I visited Kings Island this past summer, my wife, daughter and brother-in-law joined me. Because my daughter isn't old enough to ride coasters yet, we took advantage of the parent swap, which meant one of us always got to ride the roller coasters twice. When we worked our way to Vortex, my brother-in-law and myself rode first. Once the ride was over, we both looked at each other and were like "you're gonna ride again right?" We both didn't want to ride it again. My brother-in-law reluctantly agreed to ride the second time, I made my way to the pain killers... I've heard much praise about this ride throughout the years, so I had an expectation for this coaster that frankly, it couldn't match. Yes, Vortex is rough, or jerky to be exact. Is this the worst Arrow Dynamics coaster? Of course not, I just don't think I'll ever ride it again. The worst thing about Vortex, or any Arrow looping coaster, is the trains and restraints. Because of my height, my head is actually above the headrest, which will obviously create a bad ride experience. When I was standing outside the station, I was talking to a ride operator who has ridden it over 500 times, which is rather impressive. I don't think I'd make it past 50, yet alone 500!
So yeah, sorry to all the Vortex lovers out there. I just don't have anything positive to say about Vortex. If you haven't ridden Vortex yet, I'd always try it out, just remember ibuprofen!
