DIY Postpartum Padsicles Post 1 of 2! Trusting my full-on urge to nest at #37weekspregnant by continuing to prep for #postpartumlife. Have you guys heard about padsicles? They are frozen pads great for postpartum moms healing from tears, episiotomies or just general inflammation from the work of, you know, pushing out a human 👶🏼. They were recommended to me by my girl #reallife mom @megankimps, and I used as close to all-natural ingredients that I could find, which were vetted by my doula. Recipe below!
What you'll need:
🤰🏼Super absorbent overnight pads, use extra long for additional relief front to back; I chose @always_brand unscented maxi overnight
🤰🏼Aloe Vera gel, cold-pressed, organic, free of weird colors (I couldn't wrap my head around putting the green gunk up in there - #TMI? Oh well!); Aloe Vera is a soothing topical remedy for minor wounds and it can help with healing after birth; I chose @amara_organics
🤰🏼Witch Hazel, a plant-derived astringent that helps to heal sores and inflammation; I chose @thayersnatural, unscented, make sure it's alcohol-free!
🤰🏼@younglivingeo Lavender Essential Oil, and in this case, I wouldn't use any other brand because Young Living is 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils (contact me at email@example.com if you need some or visit www.findyourprana.com/essential-oils)
1) Apply liberal layer of Aloe Vera all over pad
2) Pour about 2 teaspoons of Witch Hazel over the Aloe Vera
3) Sprinkle a few drops (I did 3 drops/pad) of Lavender Essential Oil
4) Wrap each pad in tin foil and freeze for use in early postpartum days
I can already feel the relief...ahh! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
