Woke up today with this book on the brain.
From the ages of 20-25 I was constantly on the go, traveling and working at camps, never wanting to be in one place.
My transition to staying put was slow...first the part time library job at age 25, the next year grad school, finally full time employment with benefits at 27, meeting the love of my life, marriage, and becoming a mom at age 35. In 10 years I went from a confirmed wanderer to a settled suburbanite with a mortgage, a toddler, and a 4 bedroom house.
But wanderers don't die. Settling is a choice, and staying settled is an act of discovery which is what this book is about. She approaches her every day world with a traveler's eye, seeing the beauty and marvel in the little things and choosing to stay and see them through. I come back to this book every time I feel the itch for the open road.
