Question: Do You Look Beyond Someone's Appearance? #realtalk
Introducing, Tyra Fong-Simms, 18, born in Berkeley, CA and raised between Oakland and San Francisco, CA. "When I was in middle school I was bullied a lot for being tall and skinny. When I got to high school, I decided that I wasn't going to pay attention to what other people thought of me. I decided to graduate high school two years earlier so I could start college ahead of my peers. I was way more mature than my peers and high school wasn't a good place for me. I've been modelling since high school. The modelling industry is always about your appearance and your measurements, but not you as an actual person. So models don't get much personal respect because if you're not a certain measurement than your disposable. When I've gone for shoots, I've been looked at as a little bimbo with no brains and little intelligence. Unlike what most perceive me as, I've gotten straight A's in college. I also have a lot of interest in history and the English language. I am more than my appearance, I am an intelligent human being. Please look beyond people's appearance and don't judge a book by its cover."
