Texas Capitol Dome
Austin, TX
#TexasCapitol #TXCapitol #StateCapitols #Austin #atx

Another state capitol building in the books. @kayla_m_hamrick agreed to drive over an hour out of the way today to give in to my capitol tour addiction. The building was incredibly opulent and well designed. The first pic makes the dome look black but it's not. Same color as the main building, looks black due to bad sun position. Every light fixture was made by Tiffany & Co. back in the 1920s and the landscape architect was Frederick Olmsted (designed Central Park in NYC). The dome is the fifth tallest masonry dome in the world and tallest in North America. And I need to mention that the state had a stroke of genius when they named the supreme court building the Temple of Justice. #olympia #statecapitols #washingtonstate #bestwifeinhistory #babytristan

Tallahassee, Florida ✅
My 39th state capitol

The old state capitol, first built in 1845, the year Florida became a state, expanded several times, and restored to its 1902 appearance, is in front; the tower of the new state capitol, completed in 1978, is behind. (Actually visited this morning, but we’ve been traveling all day.) #Tallahassee #Florida #FL #statecapitol #statecapitols #latergram

We rode past the Georgia State Capitol on the bus on our way to and from Zoo Atlanta yesterday (Saturday, 12 August 2017). I then caught sight of the capitol’s dome from the Five Points station, the hub of MARTA’s rail system, and snapped this photo using the zoom on my larger camera.

The dome was originally covered in tin, but during a renovation of the capitol building in 1958 it was covered with gold leaf. The gold was mined near Dahlonega, Georgia, which in the 1830s was the site of one of the first gold rushes in U.S. history.

I first toured Georgia’s capitol on 14 December 2007. It was the 12th state capitol I visited in my quest to visit all 50. (I’ve now visited 38 of the 50 and should visit my 39th and 40th — those of Florida and Tennessee — this coming week and the following.) #Atlanta #ATL #DowntownAtlanta #Georgia #GA #GeorgiaOnMyMind #capitol #statecapitol #statecapitols #architecture #dome #landmark #latergram

The Oklahoma City Capitol Dome.
The Capitol was completed in 1917, and was designed to support a dome. But, due to cost considerations the dome wasn't actually added until 2002.
Oklahomans are pretty proud of their dome, it's topped with a 17-foot tall, three ton, bronze sculpture of an American Indian holding a lance and shield.
It's worth the visit if you're ever in the area.

You can never take enough pics of our state capitol. Finished in 1932 ,At 0ver 450 ft high, it is still the tallest state capitol building in the U.S. Huey P. Long was instrumental in getting the new capitol built, and saw it as a symbol to unite the people of the state together. #gobr #geauxdowntownbr #louisiana #louisianastatecapitol #batonrouge #redstick #istrouma #jj_louisiana #statecapitols #geauxlouisiana #exploreyourstate
