I was talking to some young netball athletes (14-16 years) a few weeks ago whilst visiting their club to run an S&C workshop and I was completely blown away that out of the 4 girls I was chatting to 1 suffers regular lower back pain, one had torn ligaments in her ankle, and one suffered from patellofemoral syndrome.
Unfortunately, this is the case all to often with this age group AND these issues are actually preventable!!!! Injury rates in netball are on the INCREASE. Female athletes sustain knee injuries up to 6 times MORE than male athletes. The PEAK incidence of ACL injury in female athletes occurs at ages 14-16 years!
