Wanting to help protect your back from injury? Last year this study (https://www.nature.com/articles/srep45975 ) published in Scientific Reports showed that people (25-35 years old in this study) who habitually ran at a moderate pace had improved intervertebral discs health. Disc height to vertebrae height improved (the discs got bigger!) and the discs were more hydrated and showed better glycosaminoglycan levels (this is a lubricant and shock absorber). These changes were not correlated to overall activity level. Slow walking, fast running, or jumping did not have a positive change on disc health. So, to keep that back healthy get out for a brisk walk or moderate run!

Shoulder and scapular stability/movement is extremely important for upper extremity function. This is a great start to work out the muscles surrounding your shoulders. Give it a try!
Things to keep in mind: ✨Keep your body upright onto a stable surface such as a wall.
✨The farther down on the wall you go, the more challenging the exercise will become.
✨Begin with a less resistant band until you have proper form-no winging of the scapula.

It is important to understand which nerves are responsible for innervating each muscle. It's not only important for healthcare specialists, but also gym goers and/or athletes; who can be likely to cause injury to these muscles during activity. Different types of pain lead specialists to diagnose specific injuries, with shooting pains most likely relating to nerve conditions. Most people are aware that burning sensations notably signify muscle conditions, such as; delayed onset of muscle soreness (doms), but don't leave out any information during assessments with a qualified specialist. A full scope of the symptoms allows for accurate diagnosis.

Let’s talk athletic performance and the weight room. These days, most high school and club teams include strength and conditioning in their programming. This is terrific but we need to talk about the goals of the weight room. Lifting weights and improving your deadlift, bench press, snatch, or clean and jerk won’t make you a better baseball, soccer, or football player but it WILL make you a better athlete... which is significantly more important. With all the talk of sports specialization these days, people are forgetting that before you become a high level player of your sport, you need to first have a strong foundation of being the best athlete you can be. The weight room does this by building tissue resiliency, strength, power, and agility that can then be transferred to your sport. But first, you must be an athlete, and this is what the weight room provides. So listen up youth athletes.
