All her life men have told her she wasn't pretty enough, even the man she was dating. Her uncles, brothers, cousins, and father would always say women who were slimmer, light-skin, had long straight hair, were ride or die, and a freak in the bedroom, were the ones who were beautiful.
She always had low self-esteem. Guys cheated on her with the women who were more European-looking. How could she compete with that? She thought, how can a regular black girl compete with someone she's not? Well, she changes herself into what the world wants to see. In turn, she becomes someone God didn't want her to be; like everyone else.
Black women, my prayer is that you stay uplifted because there are men like me who desire the natural, beautiful you.
Lord, sometimes when our women look in the mirror, they're not too happy with what they see. Please help them see the way you made them, beautiful and perfect just as they are. Help them to hold this image in their mind and heart as they follow their life’s path. Allow others to witness Your light shining through them as they walk with confidence, grace and a smile on their face. In Jesus name, Amen.
I ❤ you!
