Well, that wasn't happening. My split is definitely not a square one, so my aligment is compromised and I really didn't get much of backend. But I spend most of yoga time I had today working on a backbend including bending in lunges. So I hope hard work cancels out those not so good photos. ______________________

Getting the foot to remain hooked over the hip crest is tough. I practiced both sides and with two approaches - (1) hooking the foot while in a lunge and then sliding down to a split and (2) hooking the foot at the hip crest while in a split. My left foot hook is better than my right. My right foot hook fares better when I hook it while in a split. Nonetheless, the foot hook is something I warmed up considerably for with half frog, frog pose, and even hanging out in a hook foot position for several long breaths many times. A continued work in progress for sure with #practiceandalliscoming .
