Today is the national dog day of Finland #koiranpäivä. Dogs have always been huge part of my life. I knew already at young age that I want to have many dogs in my life. So let me introduce my muses.
1. My first dog was Rough collie Lily to whom I got when I was 10 years old. My mom told me that I could get the dog if I bought it myself. And so I did. Lily was an excellent first dog. She was kind, easy to be with, her own family-oriented. Lily was with me through my childhood until I was young adult. Sadly, I had to let her go at the age 13 (year was 2015) when she suddenly got really ill. I cherish those 13 years and I still miss her a lot.
2. My second dog is mixed-breed Iita who came to me by surprise. Iita's first family couldn't keep her so I took her. Iita was 9 months old. Compared to Lily, Iita has always been more challenging one. She is scared of other people and dogs, and doesn't really know how to play with other dogs. Besides that the Spanish water dog - Jack Russell terrier heritage makes her quite energic dog. Lily was great tutor to Iita and they lived together seven years. Iita has taught me a lot of about canine anxities, and it became my Phd thesis subject. Iita is now 10 years and slowly getting into grandma mode (but only slowly).
3. My newest family member is Finnish lapphund Halla. Halla is 1-year-old and still developing her personality but I can already tell that she is quite friendly and all-loving dog. She is a bit more stubborn than Lily and Iita. Let's see how doggy training goes with this teenager.
All my dogs have been very different personalities and I love how unique they are. What have you learnt from your dogs? 😘🐕
