And we've arrived in the gorgeous, sleepy little town of Cuenca, Spain. 😍😍😍 #lathropsgoneawol #largefamilytravel #wow #wanderlust #travel #exploremore #live #cuenca #spain #mountains #spanisharchitecture #instatravel

Step back in time when the Spanish took hold of the Philippines where the people imbibed its influence and from this you’ll see what Calle Crisologo is all about. Otherwise known as The Heritage Village, Calle Crisologo in Vigan, Ilocos Sur is a long cobbled street lined with houses built during the Spanish era. Take a ride in a traditional kalesa (horse-drawn vehicle) and you’ll experience perfect tour of the past. ❤️🇵🇭❤️😍👌 .

Never completed and roofless until 1957, this is the 1526 palace of Charles Habsburg; Archduke of Austria, Holy Roman Emperor, King of Castile and King of Aragón.

Most commonly known as 'Emperor Charles V', he is widely referred to as the first king of 'Spain', after he inherited both crowns of his maternal Grandparents Ferdinand (Aragón) and Isabella (Castile). In the Spanish context, he is perhaps better known as Charles I.

The palace is one of the earliest examples of renaissance architecture outside of Italy and can be considered the first major royal palace of the monarchs of Spain, despite never being completed.

The main Architect for the project was Pedro Machuco Toledo, a student of Michaelangelo.

The palace is square externally and features Tuscan and Ionic pilasters.
But the most unusual feature is the circular shape of the Doric and Ionic pillared interior courtyard, which has no precedent in Renaissance architecture and places the building in the avant-garde of its time.
