On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 landed the first two humans on the Moon. During this lunar landing, commander Neil Armstrong and pilot Buzz Aldrin left behind an American flag, a patch honoring the fallen Apollo 1 crew, and a plaque on one of Eagle's legs that reads, "Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon. July 1969 A.D. We came in peace for all mankind." #OMCA's #ObjectOfTheWeek is an #AllOfUsOrNone poster celebrating the first moonwalk and giant leap for mankind. #ManOnTheMoon #LunarLanding #SpaceIsAwesome #Apollo11 #Apollo11LunarLanding 🖼: First Man on the Moon, 1999. Stick yourself in a rack to connect a cable? On the ceiling? Yeah, that’s normal in space. #SpaceIsAwesome

We have liftoff of #GPSIIF12 #AtlasV from Cape Canaveral!

Just watched the launch from the beach! I was holding my phone so tight running to the beach that it turned off and I didn't manage to get any photos for ya! :) lol Thanks NASA for the video! Hope you're having a groovy day!

So much fun at the #adlerafterdark event at the #adlerplanetarium! We are lucky to catch it as it only happens in the summer!

It's an all adult, above 21 event.
I was so happy to see the adults playing, using recycled materials to build their own space craft, seeing the curious side of people asking nerdy questions to the astronomers on dark energy and dark matter and wowing at the stars as we watch the #skywatchlive show in a dome shape overhead theatre screen... 😍 of course the #billygoat blue martian drink helped me stay #spacey 😂😂 #becuriousaboutthesky #wearemadeofstars #sciencewins #spaceisawesome #ineedmyspace

This 12-by-8½-inch bag, labeled "lunar sample return," sold at auction today for $1.8M. It ended up on an online federal auction site after a bureaucratic misunderstanding. After no one bid on it in three initial auctions, it was bought on February 2015 for $995. The owner had NASA verify the authenticity. NASA officials determined the bag was used by Neil Armstrong to collect rocks from the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969. Yup, the first moonwalk. The officials didn't want to give it back, but were ordered by a judge to return it. #whatisitwednesday #whatisit #whatsit #antiques #antique #curiosity #curiosities #oddity #oddities #mystery #museum #history #cabinetofcuriosities #cabinetofcuriosity #nasa #neilarmstrong #apollo11 #moonwalk #astronauts #lunarlanding #spaceisawesome

Freaky fast and really awesome! NASA astronaut Jack Fischer posted this GIF to his social media Tuesday saying, “I was checking the view out the back window & decided to take a pic so you can see proof of our ludicrous speed! #SpaceIsAwesome”. In case you didn’t know, the International Space Station travels 17,500 miles per hour as it orbits 250 miles above the Earth.
Currently, three humans are living and working there, conducting important science and research. The orbiting laboratory is home to more than 250 experiments, including some that are helping us determine the effects of microgravity on the human body. Research on the station will not only help us send humans deeper into space than ever before, including to destinations like Mars, but also benefits life here on Earth.
