This evening at PLACE, December’s edition of ‘So What? Making Research Public’. We’re hearing from Chris Hamill and Dr Agustina Martire about contested built heritage and superdiverse streets.
5:30-7pm, Tuesday 12 December 2017 ********* Chris’ research looks at the failures (and some successes) of dealing with NI’s legacy of conflict, charting the approaches taken since the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. His work centres on the now stalled proposals to turn the former women’s prison in Armagh into a luxury spa hotel. ******* Agustina’s research seeks to understand urban streets beyond the language of planning and architecture. It seeks answers to questions such as what makes a good street; how can different disciplines contribute to their analysis; and how do we deal with problems of community, class, gender, crime, and commerce?
