It is with heavy hearts that we are looking to once again guard the Manomin (wild rice ), starting Sunday morning. I have heard that charges may be getting laid upon those that pulled the Manomin from the water. But I do not believe these people will be dissuaded so easily. They ignored the need for permits, they ignored the consultation and consent process, and they ignored both Anishnaabeg and Settler Laws. So if you have a canoe, we are asking for you to be there. We are asking you to come and become a barrier for the Manomin. To show that we are watching over the Manomin, and we will not ignore such hurtful ignorance.
We will meet at the public water access on Kerry Line, at 10am, and paddle to Birch Point, to guard the Manomin. Bring paddles, PFDs, food, water and your medicines/drums.
