My friend @bebravekeepgoing leans over to me and says "I can't remember the last time I saw his smile so big." She speaks truth.
About 15 months ago my son made a decision I was worried he might have a hard time brining to fruition. His over-feely heart could not deal with the post traumatic stress of his friend going through cancer. His friend survived and is thriving and we are so thankful. Bubba could not move forward, he needed to do something to be helpful. When Luke was sick he always wanted to bring a gift, he wanted to take away some pain. Our friend is a miracle and we are so thankful, but Bubba just just could not shake it. He felt it was so unfair that some kids suffer so much and he does not. What could he do?
He saw a video of a boy who donated his hair and he was like "I'm gonna do that, my hair is pretty and I can grow it out." And he did. It was hard you guys. My son is not fancy and taking care of his hair was challenging and upsetting. We told him he could cut it if he was every frustrated, that it was totally ok. He was committed.
Today he cut his hair, an inch and a half longer than the minimum to donate to #childrenwithhairloss and our friend #lukethebrave came to watch him chop it all off. He was so, so proud that he did it. And I am a bit of a mess, so proud of this kid who set a hard goal and did it. I am so in awe of this kid that God gave to us. Bravo, brother! This is a day we will remember forever and ever.
