The Heretical Rapscallion: Ardbeg 1999 "Galileo" Single Malt Scotch, Ardbeg 10, Hidalgo PX, sundried tomato-infused Carpano Antica Vermouth; stirred and served up with "bottled space" (absinthe) to garnish.
On the forefront, a peat-dominated nose that opens up to almonds and earth. The addition of absinthe acts as a middleman between the smoke and the sweetness, while the savoury components add a meatiness on the palate - and there's an interesting broad and slightly sandy texture (is it the tomato vermouth?). Probably the most expensive cocktail I've ever treated myself to at 47 NZD but definitely an experience. Everyone visit @hawthornlounge ✨
