Hey Treasures, meet my beloved cat (Sparky). He is a Sokoke cat born and bred in Somaliland, but soon he's going to be an American citizen as I'm planning to take him with me to the U.S. 😄
Sparky was born in our home in Hargeisa and I used to feed and take care of him, his siblings, and his mom and dad every day. He quickly became my favorite because he would always follow me around everywhere I go and was very playful and affectionate. Plus, he just stood out from the rest of the cats with his beautiful, unique, tiger-ish coat. He was just a beautiful kitten -- inside and out. 😻 Honestly, all the cats were special, and I treated them all equally, but Sparky was the only one that I felt was there for more than the food... haha. He sincerely cared and wanted my friendship (and he got it). 😊
Then, I had to travel to Dubai and had to leave the cats behind. To my surprise, I was later told that all the cats left the house the day after I left and never came back. That was disappointing and weird because the cats never used to go beyond the gate and I asked the housekeeper to take care of them while I was gone. Anyway, after being gone for a whole month, I finally returned to Hargeisa and I started asking people if they've seen my cats, and everyone said, "not since you left." That made me sad, and I figured if they were gone for that long, then they're probably not coming back.
Well, guess who came back (in the most spontaneous way) the day after I returned from Dubai)?!? My brilliant SPARKY, of course! 😸 Even the way he re-appeared was interesting and funny, but I'll have to save that for another post because this one is already running long. ☺ But let me just say, that Sparky has since gotten much bigger and still lives in our Hargeisa home. Since I've been traveling, my cousin has been taking care of him for me and I make sure to send him his food and everything he needs.
I really miss him and can't wait to see him again! Some people say it's silly that I continue to invest in this cat, especially since I'm not even there with him anymore, but I say it's all about unconditional love, which we all deserve (humans & animals alike). Cheers, my dears! ✌😘🤗
