‘Out of the Ordinary’ exhibition is now open at the @bridewelltheatre in Fleet Street, London. I’m delighted that my picture ‘Bringing in the Sheaves’ was selected to be exhibited. It shows the Granton Community Gardeners carrying their freshly harvested wheat down the road from one of their urban gardens, past the community centre to the ‘grain store’, (a room in a portacabin in another of their gardens). The community gardeners really are out of the ordinary - over the past few years they have reclaimed several plots of scrappy land which were effectively dog toilets / rubbish dumps & have nurtured them into flourishing gardens producing all kinds of fruit, veg and grain. They even grow quinoa! I’ve been documenting them over the past couple of years and it’s an ongoing project which I hope one day to exhibit as a whole. This photo wasn’t posed; I was following them down the road and saw the graphic composition come together before my eyes. I called to them to stop, which they did for about 5 seconds before they were off again. Gladly, I got a couple of shots 😊 The exhibition is on until the end of January, so although I couldn’t make it to the opening last night, I hope to get down to see it. Thanks to my sister @esthermulholland for going in my place and getting some shots of the picture in context. Thanks also to @edinburgharts for the great framing job and organising shipping. And thanks @laurakiora @harveyhotdog and @shutter_hub for the opportunity to show my work. .
