I told her that I bought her a present. I handed her a staple gun and staples. The hardware cloth was stapled! There are more photos at @parkway.garden.project_lb!

When I lived in Vegas last winter I remember how brutal the cold winds were 🌀 Now that I'm in SoCal, the wind isn't as cold but it's just as strong, causing the #WoolseyFire outside LA that's burning almost a week now and the #SierraFire near me in #IE that broke out at 11 pm last night 🔥 .
It was hard sleeping last night. I saved whatever plants I could and packed up my luggage. I kept going outside to feel the wind and smell the air - using my senses to gage if it was ok to sleep at home. As of this morning, the fire near me is contained and the wind is more calm, but still at it 💨 .

The winds here are NO JOKE. My greenhouse is gone. My personal plants have taken a major hit. Most importantly I am safe. It's been a while since I lived in Cali so I'm assuming these winds are just part of #harvestseason? 🍃 .

Grateful for our loving community of neighbors, emergency first responders and these heroes right here: our #immigrantfarmworkers. They are the most hard working people and often the most ignored, undervalued, and exploited people in our community. Their pay is shameful and they are forced to work in the shittiest conditions, being threatened with firing or deportation at any complaint. Every. Single. Day. 💔 All so we can eat. .

I want you to know who they are. Most of us have no clue what they go through to cross borders to work and what they endure to stay here making a living. Here's a snapshot. .

Last night I tried to stay as calm as possible, packing my essentials and thinking of solutions in case I had to pick up and just go. I'm used to moving and travelling, but being FORCED TO GO? That'd be a first. What would YOU do if you had to leave home? .

You never know what people go through until it happens to you. Hope this gives you a little insight. .

I'm so shook and this shit is so REAL. We need your help. If you are ok, please call to see if your family/friends are ok, and please lend a helping hand 🙏 .

Hardware cloth. You can never be too careful.

Last winter I lived in Vegas and I remember how brutal the cold winds were. I remember thinking, "This is a cold, cold city." Funny because I endured many icebox cold winters in Utah. .

This wind's been wildin' and last night when I got home my backyard looked like a tornado came through it. My greenhouse destroyed with the strongest Mamas barely standing. I tried saving whatever plants I could 🍃 .

I kept going outside to feel the wind and smell the air - feeling with my senses to gage if it was ok to sleep in my home. As of this morning, the fire near me is 75% contained and the wind is still at it. .

At least the wind is more calm. The most important thing is I'm safe. The winds here are NO JOKE. Can't do much but damage control today. .
Grateful for our loving community including our neighbors, emergency first responders and these guys right here: our #immigrantfarmworkers. Forced to work for that shitty pay or deported 💔 And the farmers do it because it's work and an opportunity to help themselves and family. All so we can eat. .

Me complaining about my personal plants and the ones in our nursery is nothing compared to what our grow ops and food farms in SoCal are going through right now. This shit is super REAL. .

This pic speaks volumes about the resilience and the will we have to live well. My parents work in unrelated fields, but looking at this make me a #prouddaughterofimmigrants 💕 Thanks for sharing this 📷 @JustinoMora1

One of these screws is not like the others even though they all came in the same box.

This lovely box showed up yesterday. It is a surprise that will be installed at a community garden that a friend started. Of course there will be a review done for the blog. Go over and follow @watex.greenliving and check out their awesome products.

SoCal psycho winds threw the roof off the #greenhouse and brought an early harvest of Private Reserve 🌱 .

My tomatoes and herbs have taken a huge blow. Look at this branch! 🍃 #womengrow #mmjlife

Bed number 3 is done! It’s lunch time and hardware cloth is next! Nicole, @rootedgarden, is bringing back the kitchen and @ronfinleyhq moved it out the parkway! We are just following their examples to end #fooddeserts!

What’s up South Wrigley residents?!! We can’t wait to cultivate more food opportunities with you. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS, down to our TIPPY TOES & up through the CROWN OF OUR HEADS!

We got 2 beds, almost, done. They need hardware cloth on the bottom. A third is scheduled for tomorrow. The soil donation from @kellogggarden arrives Thursday so these need to be ready!

2 beds almost done today. A third tomorrow and hardware cloth on the bottom.

The @growoya #ollas for the garden showed up today! These will help us save so much water! We don’t need to really check them that often. There will be mulch on top of the soil so that will help retain the moisture. A HUGE “Thank You to @growoya for these! If you haven’t checked them out; go to their site at growoya.com!

A huge thanks to @growoya for the donation to the @parkway.garden.project_lb! I use them in my garden and they will also be in the parkway garden!

I didn’t even realize how BIG and how MANY navel oranges were on the tree until they started changing colors! We harvested a lot last season, but it looks as though we might have even more this time around. Yippee 🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊 #naveloranges

Instead of oranges and yellows, in Socal our Fall leaves are often Bougainvillea pink! Would you clean them up or leave em be?
