So yesterday was an experience in life cycles and living close to nature.
Deano walked into the greenhouse and caught this snake attempting to eat our friendly toad in residence. This was an obvious upset and we immediately rushed to the toads rescue, keeping the snake from his sought after meal. He was later released off into the creek to hunt for a meal not under our protection.
This event got me thinking about how we benefit from our critters. When we start to become aware of all the little amazing lives going about their purposes, it’s easy to form a connection or relationship.
It’s super easy to form these friendships with our pets. Mammals that we can connect to on a more obvious spirit level. But it’s not so obvious when you consider, non mammals like insects and amphibians.
How much of that perceived connection is due to us projecting our positive energy onto a critter? And what part of it is just a smart toad showing up each morning to enjoy the showering mist of our plant watering?
Either way, How does becoming aware and appreciating the creatures around us benefit our daily life?
It’s encourages us to be a beneficial presence, a steward to our environment. It is life affirming, feeding our soul, our individual self.
Making those connection, even friendships to nature, broadens our perspective to such a large view that we see our own personal pathways to happiness.
Being aware of the world around us, the plants, insects, critters, whether, flying slithering, hopping or crawling are there to teach us to be present. Being able to live the moment your in, is truly a blessing. Their purpose and life patterns are set in their DNA. We as caretakers are unique in that we can choose our happiness. But, I do believe whole heartedly that we have a responsibility to affirm and appreciate all life in our environment, and in return that life connection will feed our souls.
