My pastor once shared on how Noah never ran after any of the animals after building the ark. God made the animals come to the ark. That message hit me really deep.
A lot of times, we chase after the animals neglecting the ark. You sing, but you want to meet 2baba by all means. In your work place, all you are concerned about is the day you will speak with the CEO. You are a tech enthusiast and you are bombarding Mark Zuckerberg with Dms. I have a suggestion for you, why not build your ark and let God bring the animals.
Who told you if you are very diligent at your work, your CEO won't notice you and call for you himself.
Why not just focus on your work, keep getting better and wait. Put your work out the best way you can. I'm privileged to be in talks with a few of the people I've always looked up to all my life. And I really can't remember getting their attention via dms or running after them. Somehow somehow.. they heard about me. Or they see your work!
What am I trying to say, before you ask for animals, please build your ark...the animals will find you.

By the way, please who has Chris Rock's number lol.

Most times, when people see me, they say "you are soo not photogenic, please stop taking pictures" Then I go "thanks so much" because its a complement.
All I'm saying is, in life we get carried away sometimes with the "pictures" we see. We don't even bother getting to know for real who the person is or what the person is going through. This goes either ways too.

You meet some ladies and you are like chai camera is good o! So this is your real face. Filter is a baaaastaard!
Some people look like they have it all together meanwhile in the real sense, they are broken into pieces like a fallen i-phone.

My point is, never judge a book by its cover, except of course it is a Math's textbook with a HARD cover.

CAN YOU LET THAT MONEY GO (1)?
You know, we live in a society seemingly controlled by money. Money is the standard. I'm sure 6 months back, uncle Evans the kidnapper was eulogised at several functions. Highly respected! "You no no dat man? Those houses for magodo! Na him get am o. Respect am o"
Everybody wants to drive a fancy car, wear the shiniest blings. But my question is, Do you want to do that at the expense of your conscience?
Can you let money go because of personal principles. I'm not even saying crime now. I mean just because it doesn't go well with your personal standard. I bet your answer is NO. I say this, if you can't walk away from money for such "trivial" reasons, you are a potential kidnapper/armed robber/hired killer etc. The truth is that, cut back to 10 years ago, that armed robber never believed he will carry gun. It all started with his sights set on money!!! No standards!
If you can't let money go, then you have not mastered money, money has mastered you. Please I'm not trying to undermine or downplay the importance of money, I kuku charge for my services. But listen, would you rather work through the process and make your money with peace of mind, than you be the richest and your conscience pricks you for the rest of your life, knowing that you had to scam or you had to be a gigolo or you had to steal to build your "empire". This for me has been the major bane of our society. That's why you see incomplete government projects, bad roads, your mechanic messing you up because he has swallowed the money for parts, your police checkpoint being a tollgate, lawless danfo buses parking on the highway to pick passengers (to make more money), comedians stealing jokes so as to get more gigs (money), almost every thing wrong with our society has this as the foundation
Imagine we all do what we do because we love to do it, or because we want to render quality service. Like you go to work not because you want to get paid, but because you have customers waiting to clear cheques at the counter. Or you are selling not because you want to make exorbitant profits, but because you love it. I have a lot to say on this but let me just stop here. #SLKSpeaks

There is such a thing as wrong advice. Some people advice you wrongly. No...not because they hate you. They are actually genuine. That is what they would have done if they were in your shoes. That is what they call being sincerely wrong. Only God is always right. Hence, you can't always be obedient. Yes he's your best friend, he's your boyfriend, she's your mum but she might not be right.
Years back, I came home with a swollen forehead from a motor accident. I was looking like rihanna. I "gisted" my mum. And she was so scared! She told me to use one pain killer or something like that. I said don't worry I will just sleep! "Ehhhnnn o fe koba mi. You don't know if anything happens to you your father will blame me" (as if that's the only reason she wants me alive lol). She calls my dad. And typical of him, he commands me to go use the drug. "Why do you want to kill yourself?" . I still refused o. I insisted that I will sleep (I can actually be stubborn sha). I could hear my mum say "iru omo alaigboran wo leleyi" (what a disobedient child) as I went to bed. The next morning, I picked up the pain killer. Checked the pack, feeling bad for being so disobedient the previous night. And then I saw, "NOT TO BE USED FOR HEAD INJURIES"
I just put the drug back. E kuku ni pa mi.
#SLKSpeaks #HappyNewMonth

I've seen "what now?" three times. Epic show. What tripped me was not just the jokes. @Kevinhart4real sold out a stadium for real! How do you sell out a full stadium and everyone was comfortable. It still looked classy. A lot of WORK was done. You could even tell he rehearsed severally. Lights went off at the right times, the sounds were on point. A LOT OF WORK WAS DONE. To my colleagues and future entertainers, entertainment is not an easy way out! Its not that thing you do because you are lazy. ITS WORK. When @ChrisRock hosted the Oscars in February 2005, he said that as at NOVEMBER 2004 he already had his opening monologue written out. He took him over 2 years to prepare for "kill the messenger " ( his last comedy special). Yesterday I watched @TrevorNoah on The Daily Show...jeeez..the work they put into a 30mins show though! Epic. I've seen Trevor Noah do 1hr performances in over 4 different countries (Different Continents). Cracking jokes based on their cultures. WORK!! I know I am one lazy guy but meehn I know if I want to get to that level, I really need to change. It takes HARDWORK and dedication to do entertainment. S/o to all Naija Comedians/Actors/Artistes. Let's do work this year! #NoteToSelf #SLKSpeaks #HardWorkPays

I think nowadays we place TOO MUCH value on the wrong things. Well not entirely wrong sha but not as important. A lot of times we get carried away with making the container look really beautiful (which is important as well) and then neglecting the content. I know they say talent is not enough but I believe talent is the most important.

That's why we see a "singer" that will draw tattoo, braid hair, have hype man, talent manager, road manager, stage manager and but doesn't have a manageable song to his name! Or a comedian with the best suit, well groomed and even speaks good English but No Jokes! I'm not saying you shouldn't pay attention to how you look, but that should only be added to the real raw material. Talent! By talent I don't mean entertainment alone. I'm saying whatever you do, make sure you are good at it. You might not even be the best at it yet, but just be good first, before you buy all the other accessories. Before you draw tattoo, have a good song or be a good performer.

I remember in 1990 when I was writing my Junior Waec, we all asked our parents to get us the best drawing board for our intro tech (technical drawing). Apart from the fact that the board made you look cool, it also made drawing easier. You could set your paper easily and do madt stuff. On the day of the exam, we had all set our boards on the table ready to kill! Then I saw my guy, he didn't have a board. What? "Wey your board?" I asked with so much concern. "Omo it was stolen o"
Before I knew it, this guy was setting his paper on the table! Using a T square he saw on the floor. I felt sad for him. We know he's one of the best students but sadly his village people have caught up with him.
Long story short, result came out, he got an A, I got a C alongside most of my colleagues! Baba was/is just too good, no fancy board, no swag just pure talent!
Well, my point is, be good at something, then after you have worked on being good you can now go and do plastic surgery if you like! If you do the later before the former, you won't be different from a sealed champagne bottle with fanta inside!

By the way everything I wrote here is true except 1990 😁😁

The previous night @ekengbassey had a little show at a lounge. We did comedy there. Myself, @emmaohmagod and @comediandeeone. Then we all went to sleep in one side Ekeng provided sha! Im trying not to call it accomodation. He took us for dinner too. Where he gave us akara and tins near the riverside. Then he gave us money. I think 15k for the 3 of us. Then we arose in d morning....(with the same clothe of last night) and decided to go to palms in lekki. Just to see as the place be. We were not going to see a movie... We were not going to buy anything. We just wanted to see. The bus dropped us at a bus stop on d main road. So like a star...we had to trek. Like Mandela... It was a long walk to freedom. But we were just happy guys. Cracking jokes along the way. Yabbing ourselves and taking pictures.
Yeah I remember saying I am standing at the back because na so @2faceidibia1 dey back for omode meta video..... But now!!! Looking back in retrospect.... We give God the Glory...

This was me in secondary school. I was and I still am not the fashion person. I was never the person to disturb my folks that let's go for shopping. Hell No! My brother was the one that did that. I just loved to look as simple and comfortable as wearing slippers can make you. Till now if you see me wear nice stuff...its one of the sacrifices i had to make for my passion. So that my market will sell. Of course if you have a father like mine...you will have your way with that decision. Though he didn't like the fact that I love to roll up my sleeves. He said its irresponsible....until Obama came!! He didn't like me wearing slippers. Apart from those 2 he was happy I wasn't wearing all those "irresponsible" things. I remember the day my brother went shopping and bought "Combat". That combat wey get plenty pockets. My father asked him "o fe lo ja'gun ni?" (Are you going for war?). Immediately my father BURNT it! (No Jokes). Though I didn't really have friends but it kind of made me look down on myself. Some low self esteem of some sort. Because my mates would show up in designer clothes. Suffice to say..most of these kids are from way richer homes than mine. But there was something I used to do... the only way I could salvage my Rep then was to take any discussion we had to academic results. Because I knew that was the only place I had an edge. So I would go "how is school" "what was your result" "do you like maths" when my mates are gisting about where to go to and what to wear. This continued till I got to SS2 or SS3...I just became wiser. I never cared what you thought about how I look or what I have. So I stopped gisting academics because that wasn't me either.. It was just a cover up. I am actually not the academic type. So I became totally real. I wore what I had and I never apologised for it. I even started yabbing people. I was free!! I just became ME totally...and that was when I really found my funny bone!! #StoryOfMyLife #GoodMorning #LookWithinNotWithout #SLKSpeaks #EnjoyYourself

Life is a competition. Yes it is! Just that its a competition with yourself. Don't try to compete with someone else. Compete with yasef. Strive to be better than you were yesterday. That's what is called progress.
Sometimes we look at other people and use their "success" as a yardstick for ours. That only leads to discouragement, depression and desperation. It also works the other way round. Sometimes we look at other people's "failures" and that makes us feel we are doing good. That only leads to mediocrity and delusions of grandeur. Instead why not look up to God and focus on your calling. That way, you keep getting better in God's time. Learn from others, draw inspiration from them but never compete with anyone.
May God be with us all. Do have a great week! #SLKSpeaks

CAN YOU LET THAT MONEY GO (2)? Please check previous post for Pt1
Never make money your standard. Don't respect people for what they have, respect people for what they have done, what they have achieved and who they've helped. Learn to ask "what do you do?". Seek to learn the ropes. I know sometimes you could feel somehow seeing your mate riding fancy cars and you are in danfo. Please don't envy him, you don't know what he does. You don't know how he started. You don't know who he kidnapped. Wait suffice to say at this juncture that, you have to balance it. Don't always think any young man that has money must have committed a crime. Because that can also limit you. If you know him, you might want to get close to him and learn. But respect process. God...as God as he is, created the earth in 7 days. Why didn't he create the whole earth in one day! PROCESS. He needed light before plants, because he knows plants need light. He created plants before animals because he knows they will need plants etc. Even God respects process, so why are you in a rush.

I wish you can begin to see money as an ordinary tool. Not as the master. The next time you are faced with the option of being who you are not just for some money, you should be able to walk away ( except of course you are an actor lol)

If you stay true to who you are, grow in what you do, stick to what you believe in. Money will come. Don't go to a business because there is money in it. Not every money is your money. Don't go and look for sugar mummy or daddy then you buy a range and put it here and say "God did it, Hardwork pays". Then your sugar mummy/daddy starts wondering the day his name changed to handwork.
Whatever you will not give me Lord, let me not have it.
I REST MY CASE

Please o, if you need to book me for anything, book me ooo...I dey find money o lol

I remember few years ago. I went to fix my shoes. If you have one shoe and you use it to trek the road of my street the way i did, then you and the cobbler are bound to be padies. The cobbler took my precious one and only "Legedese Benz", tore it apart right in my presence. I shouted "what?? I said repair not destroy". He said "oga, na wetin I dey do na". I left that place calculating how I'm going to buy another shoe because that mumu cobbler had sent my shoe to an early grave (I've only used the shoe for 3 years). Well, I got back the next day and asked for my shoes. He gave me. I smiled "why are you giving me someone else' shoes. I mean the one I brought here yesterday." "Oga na him be that!" Wow! The shoe looked perfect. A shoe that had no issue. And that taught me a life lesson.

Most times in life, the road to REPAIR is DESPAIR. If things happen in your life that tear you down, maybe you are being fixed. Wait, I don't necessarily mean you will become richer, that's part of it but it might make you a better person. A better Christian or, in RICHARD PRYOR's case, a better comedian. That phase of despair is necessary for our epiphany. I can tell that my last phase of despair has actually made me a better person. So why not behave like your creator, who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross and despised the shame...
Erm please send your offerings please maybe na you God wan use repair me.
Have a great day.

Things will always want to bring you down. But you have not lost as long as you can get back up, dust yourself and move on. Never look back...remember Lot's wife. #SLKSpeaks #HappyHoliday

ONE MAN MOPOL
A great preacher once said and I quote: "They that walk, walk with many..they that run, run with a few....but they that fly, fly alone". To fly, you need to lay aside any weight so you can be light. What is a weight? A weight is simply anything that pulls you down. Why stay around people that daily seek to pull you down all the time by their words and deeds.
I have come to understand that we most times underestimate the power in being alone. A lot of times we have gotten so attached to the people God used for us in times past instead of looking at God himself. Someone said, "if we do all that we are capable of doing, we'll literally astonish ourselves". Please be nice to everyone, respect everyone, but never be attached to anyone such that he becomes a weight.
Don't be scared of being alone. It could be a blessing in disguise. Remember, one with God is majority. When God brings helpers your way, be nice to them but still look up to God not the helper. Sometimes you need to separate yourself so you can fly. You don't need people that pull or push ( depending on their position) you down. You just do all you can do, and keep doing it. He knows how to send the Ravens your way.
By the way please is there a helper that can send 20million my way?

You wrote my mind G!!!!! πŸ™Œ @Regrann from @slkomedy - When I was a kid, I actually wanted to be a hunter.. Wait! before you do to me what Chris Brown said you should not do to him....My reason was simple. Apart from too much Nollywood, I felt that since the reason we work is so that we can eat.....I figured I could just go get the food! Myself and my family can just eat and grow old and die. No need to even have money...since there is food. So naive right?

As myopic as that sounds, that is how a lot of us live our lives. Just to feed our families and then die. I don't think that's why we came to this world o. Hence.... I don't see how the statement "he's doing well for himself" is a compliment. You shouldn't do well for yourself! You can't be successful until you begin to touch other lives. Positively of course.(because Floyd Mayweather also touches people's lives)

Its good to take advice. But there are some decisions in your life that nobody will ever advise you to take. Almost all great men in the world took such. Its called personal conviction. Nobody will directly advise you to offer to work for free in an organisation just because you want experience (ko de ni da fun experience). Or resign from your job to start your business (when your mates are getting married). Or empty your account to do that project that only you believe in (when your wife is asking for hair). Nobody will ever advise you to drop out of school (when your father is a professor). Or reject that juicy offer because you want to go and pursue one course that you believe you need (I curse that course). Nobody will advise you to marry that woman that is not so fine to us but has all the attributes you need (ko needi, ti ko ba nidi). I can go on and on...
So quit seeking public approval as a sine qua non for your actions. Let there be space for personal conviction. We might not understand but as long as you are convinced....go on son! If it doesn't work, we will say we told you so...but what if it works, you will be our hero! Go ahead..eat that frog, if the frog is going to be the quid pro quo for your success, it might just be worth it! We will all famz you in the end.
N.B: Please note: FORGET ALL WHAT I WROTE, ALL I JUST WANTED TO DO WAS TO PUT "SINE QUA NON" AND "QUID PRO QUO" IN ONE PIECE. THANK YOU!

Nice 1 @Regrann from @slkomedy - You remember my post on how we in our generation focus on the wrong things. Here is another dimension to my assertion. Some ladies or guys are "scared" to love sighting several examples of failed marriages around them. "See Lagbaja, sacrificed all for love yet her husband dumped her". Why should that be your own template. Yes I know there are a lot of failed marriages but I also know a number of successful ones. I think it will be foolish of me to decide to focus on one man's failed marriage when my own parents are celebrating 32 years of marriage under my nose.
There is also the "Entertainers don't have successful marriages" myth. Well no matter how many failed entertainer marriages there are, as long as there is one or two standing, it only means one thing - IT IS POSSIBLE. If only we can focus on the real things that make a marriage work rather than try to give reasons like, " once you and boo are in the public eye its problem". Whether you hide him/her from the public or not, if you guys miss the center focus, it will still head for the rocks.
Don't let society give you the "RULES" for marriage. "Don't marry someone that you work together with" "Hide your partner from the public" " Don't marry a banker or entertainer". Why not let the "He" who started marriage give you the real "rules"

My point is instead of focusing on the entertainer that married and broke up, or the singer that married and divorced, or the actor that married and broke up, why not let the couple in this pic above give you hope. If Tunde and Wunmi Obe can do it, Timi and Busola, e.t.c, then all we need is to focus on the real things. I don't mean use them as role models, I mean let them inspire you to know that it is possible.
Wait..I don't even have right to talk! what do I know sef...lemme do and marry so that I can have mouth to talk!

@Regrann from @slkomedy - You remember my post on how we in our generation focus on the wrong things.
