I remember those days when I was still brilliant. When I used to be the mathematics guru. There's one technique I use for my "word problems" . Instead of focusing on how difficult it is to get the unknown, I just MOVE FROM KNOWN TO UNKNOWN.
Identify the values already given in the question. Look for what you can get from the values already supplied

As simple as this might sound, most of us don't apply it to"Life Problems". A lot of us focus on how daunting it is to get to the top. You be like "how will I get to become the Chief Justice of the Federation" . or "How can I eventually have as many hit songs as 2face" or "how can I get as huge as House of Tara"

Well the answer is "just start from where you are". Instead of getting discouraged by how far it is to be the Chief Judge, why not finish Law School first and see what happens next. Why not release your first single and see where that leads you to. God has a way of orchestrating life itself to your favour when you start taking steps.
Identify the resources/opportunities you have at your disposal. Those, however little, are what you need to get to your destination. Stop waiting until you can see the full road to your destination. Instead take steps and see how the road opens up.

Start with your little make up box, go and perform in that your little church, handle the catering for that your family retreat, register for ICAN first, do a painting of that your pastor. Before you become the Minister of Finance, sebi you will do well in that bank that you work as a cashier first.
My point is, have the big picture in mind (destination), then start from where you are. .....Make I stop here because I don dey talk like who don make am.

@Regrann from @slkomedy - You remember my post on how we in our generation focus on the wrong things. Here is another dimension to my assertion. Some ladies or guys are "scared" to love sighting several examples of failed marriages around them. "See Lagbaja, sacrificed all for love yet her husband dumped her". Why should that be your own template. Yes I know there are a lot of failed marriages but I also know a number of successful ones. I think it will be foolish of me to decide to focus on one man's failed marriage when my own parents are celebrating 32 years of marriage under my nose.
There is also the "Entertainers don't have successful marriages" myth. Well no matter how many failed entertainer marriages there are, as long as there is one or two standing, it only means one thing - IT IS POSSIBLE. If only we can focus on the real things that make a marriage work rather than try to give reasons like, " once you and boo are in the public eye its problem". Whether you hide him/her from the public or not, if you guys miss the center focus, it will still head for the rocks.
Don't let society give you the "RULES" for marriage. "Don't marry someone that you work together with" "Hide your partner from the public" " Don't marry a banker or entertainer". Why not let the "He" who started marriage give you the real "rules"

My point is instead of focusing on the entertainer that married and broke up, or the singer that married and divorced, or the actor that married and broke up, why not let the couple in this pic above give you hope. If Tunde and Wunmi Obe can do it, Timi and Busola, e.t.c, then all we need is to focus on the real things. I don't mean use them as role models, I mean let them inspire you to know that it is possible.
Wait..I don't even have right to talk! what do I know sef...lemme do and marry so that I can have mouth to talk!

The previous night @ekengbassey had a little show at a lounge. We did comedy there. Myself, @emmaohmagod and @comediandeeone. Then we all went to sleep in one side Ekeng provided sha! Im trying not to call it accomodation. He took us for dinner too. Where he gave us akara and tins near the riverside. Then he gave us money. I think 15k for the 3 of us. Then we arose in d morning....(with the same clothe of last night) and decided to go to palms in lekki. Just to see as the place be. We were not going to see a movie... We were not going to buy anything. We just wanted to see. The bus dropped us at a bus stop on d main road. So like a star...we had to trek. Like Mandela... It was a long walk to freedom. But we were just happy guys. Cracking jokes along the way. Yabbing ourselves and taking pictures.
Yeah I remember saying I am standing at the back because na so @2faceidibia1 dey back for omode meta video..... But now!!! Looking back in retrospect.... We give God the Glory...

The broken hearted need healing, the captives need deliverance, the blind need sight..etc. I would have thought he would say..."give money to the poor"!. But he said "preach the gospel to the poor". Hence....the poor need the gospel! The Gospel liberates from poverty!! #NeverSawItLikeThis #SundayThoughts #HappySunday #SLKSpeaks

Most times great men never look like it in the beginning.... More like diamond in the rough. It takes a special eye to recognise...#GodHelpUs #SLKSpeaks

Most times, when people see me, they say "you are soo not photogenic, please stop taking pictures" Then I go "thanks so much" because its a complement.
All I'm saying is, in life we get carried away sometimes with the "pictures" we see. We don't even bother getting to know for real who the person is or what the person is going through. This goes either ways too.

You meet some ladies and you are like chai camera is good o! So this is your real face. Filter is a baaaastaard!
Some people look like they have it all together meanwhile in the real sense, they are broken into pieces like a fallen i-phone.

My point is, never judge a book by its cover, except of course it is a Math's textbook with a HARD cover.

When I was a kid, I actually wanted to be a hunter.. Wait! before you do to me what Chris Brown said you should not do to him....My reason was simple. Apart from too much Nollywood, I felt that since the reason we work is so that we can eat.....I figured I could just go get the food! Myself and my family can just eat and grow old and die. No need to even have money...since there is food. So naive right?

As myopic as that sounds, that is how a lot of us live our lives. Just to feed our families and then die. I don't think that's why we came to this world o. Hence.... I don't see how the statement "he's doing well for himself" is a compliment. You shouldn't do well for yourself! You can't be successful until you begin to touch other lives. Positively of course.(because Floyd Mayweather also touches people's lives)

What am I saying? If you are in this life just to do well for yourself.... You might as well just be a hunter!
Okay...let me stop, I don dey talk like who don make am....

Ever noticed that critics are never as great as the ones they criticise. They hardly ever make any impact. Don't give me that constructive criticism crap. If you are criticizing constructively, negative energy won't be created. Whatever makes you criticize someone and a negative energy sparks up is a very destructive critique. My point is, why not say less and do more. When you are criticized pick whatever makes sense and move on. Don't ever be sad that you are on critiqued side...be happy you are on the doing side. Let the critics critique, let the mimics mimic, you are the doer....keep doing.

This just touched my soul! Amaka, what you do MATTERS! IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE! KEEP AT IT! So help me God! πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‡ @Regrann from @slkomedy - The day one of my friends explained this to me some 4/5 years back, my life changed totally. Most of us don't know that what we do touches lives. Even if it's just 2. We get carried away by the income. The problem is, you underplay your business or work thinking you set the business up to make money. If only you saw your business in another light. Whatever God has called you to do affects lives. If you stop making clothes, someone somewhere will never wear what he really wants to wear and hence he won't be confident anymore.
If you stop singing, you have 2 fans that have been waiting for your next song to give them hope. If you start seeing what you do this way, it will change your work ethic.
As an entertainer, you don't know how many marriages you have helped save. Maybe she had to show her husband your video and they laughed together. What if you didn't drop that video...you'll never know.
I didn't even know I had die hard followers right from my early days. I thought it was just within my school walls. Guys that stalked my YouTube even when I had maybe 100 views. Imagine I stopped comedy. Truth is I know some guys that would have given up on their careers in total (I don't mean they work with Total o )

If only that akara woman wasn't just looking at making money, if she saw that someone would have a bad day altogether because she wasn't there, she would have made efforts to open shop even though she was not feeling good. Stop being selfish about your work. Tell yourself, "if I don't go to work, how will my boss survive, what of that customer that likes me attending to him, won't he have a bad day?" Except of course you are a stripper, then the customer will definitely find an alternative lol. #SLKSpeaks #EnjoyYourDay

All I'm saying about DILIGENCE @Regrann from @officialarole: Deep!!!!!!! @Regrann from @slkomedy - My pastor once shared on how Noah never ran after any of the animals after building the ark. God made the animals come to the ark. That message hit me really deep.
A lot of times, we chase after the animals neglecting the ark. You sing, but you want to meet 2baba by all means. In your work place, all you are concerned about is the day you will speak with the CEO. You are a tech enthusiast and you are bombarding Mark Zuckerberg with Dms. I have a suggestion for you, why not build your ark and let God bring the animals.
Who told you if you are very diligent at your work, your CEO won't notice you and call for you himself.
Why not just focus on your work, keep getting better and wait. Put your work out the best way you can. I'm privileged to be in talks with a few of the people I've always looked up to all my life. And I really can't remember getting their attention via dms or running after them. Somehow somehow.. they heard about me. Or they see your work!
What am I trying to say, before you ask for animals, please build your ark...the animals will find you.

By the way, please who has Chris Rock's number lol.

What am I trying to say, before you ask for animals, please build your ark...the animals will find you.

By the way, please who has Chris Rock's number lol.

My pastor once shared on how Noah never ran after any of the animals after building the ark.
CAN YOU LET THAT MONEY GO (2)? Please check previous post for Pt1
Never make money your standard. Don't respect people for what they have, respect people for what they have done, what they have achieved and who they've helped. Learn to ask "what do you do?". Seek to learn the ropes. I know sometimes you could feel somehow seeing your mate riding fancy cars and you are in danfo. Please don't envy him, you don't know what he does. You don't know how he started. You don't know who he kidnapped. Wait suffice to say at this juncture that, you have to balance it. Don't always think any young man that has money must have committed a crime. Because that can also limit you. If you know him, you might want to get close to him and learn. But respect process. God...as God as he is, created the earth in 7 days. Why didn't he create the whole earth in one day! PROCESS. He needed light before plants, because he knows plants need light. He created plants before animals because he knows they will need plants etc. Even God respects process, so why are you in a rush.

I wish you can begin to see money as an ordinary tool. Not as the master. The next time you are faced with the option of being who you are not just for some money, you should be able to walk away ( except of course you are an actor lol)

If you stay true to who you are, grow in what you do, stick to what you believe in. Money will come. Don't go to a business because there is money in it. Not every money is your money. Don't go and look for sugar mummy or daddy then you buy a range and put it here and say "God did it, Hardwork pays". Then your sugar mummy/daddy starts wondering the day his name changed to handwork.
Whatever you will not give me Lord, let me not have it.
I REST MY CASE

Please o, if you need to book me for anything, book me ooo...I dey find money o lol

CAN YOU LET THAT MONEY GO (1)?
You know, we live in a society seemingly controlled by money. Money is the standard. I'm sure 6 months back, uncle Evans the kidnapper was eulogised at several functions. Highly respected! "You no no dat man? Those houses for magodo! Na him get am o. Respect am o"
Everybody wants to drive a fancy car, wear the shiniest blings. But my question is, Do you want to do that at the expense of your conscience?
Can you let money go because of personal principles. I'm not even saying crime now. I mean just because it doesn't go well with your personal standard. I bet your answer is NO. I say this, if you can't walk away from money for such "trivial" reasons, you are a potential kidnapper/armed robber/hired killer etc. The truth is that, cut back to 10 years ago, that armed robber never believed he will carry gun. It all started with his sights set on money!!! No standards!
If you can't let money go, then you have not mastered money, money has mastered you. Please I'm not trying to undermine or downplay the importance of money, I kuku charge for my services. But listen, would you rather work through the process and make your money with peace of mind, than you be the richest and your conscience pricks you for the rest of your life, knowing that you had to scam or you had to be a gigolo or you had to steal to build your "empire". This for me has been the major bane of our society. That's why you see incomplete government projects, bad roads, your mechanic messing you up because he has swallowed the money for parts, your police checkpoint being a tollgate, lawless danfo buses parking on the highway to pick passengers (to make more money), comedians stealing jokes so as to get more gigs (money), almost every thing wrong with our society has this as the foundation
Imagine we all do what we do because we love to do it, or because we want to render quality service. Like you go to work not because you want to get paid, but because you have customers waiting to clear cheques at the counter. Or you are selling not because you want to make exorbitant profits, but because you love it. I have a lot to say on this but let me just stop here. #SLKSpeaks

I remember few years ago. I went to fix my shoes. If you have one shoe and you use it to trek the road of my street the way i did, then you and the cobbler are bound to be padies. The cobbler took my precious one and only "Legedese Benz", tore it apart right in my presence. I shouted "what?? I said repair not destroy". He said "oga, na wetin I dey do na". I left that place calculating how I'm going to buy another shoe because that mumu cobbler had sent my shoe to an early grave (I've only used the shoe for 3 years). Well, I got back the next day and asked for my shoes. He gave me. I smiled "why are you giving me someone else' shoes. I mean the one I brought here yesterday." "Oga na him be that!" Wow! The shoe looked perfect. A shoe that had no issue. And that taught me a life lesson.

Most times in life, the road to REPAIR is DESPAIR. If things happen in your life that tear you down, maybe you are being fixed. Wait, I don't necessarily mean you will become richer, that's part of it but it might make you a better person. A better Christian or, in RICHARD PRYOR's case, a better comedian. That phase of despair is necessary for our epiphany. I can tell that my last phase of despair has actually made me a better person. So why not behave like your creator, who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross and despised the shame...
Erm please send your offerings please maybe na you God wan use repair me.
Have a great day.

#SLKSpeaks

Things will always want to bring you down. But you have not lost as long as you can get back up, dust yourself and move on. Never look back...remember Lot's wife. #SLKSpeaks #HappyHoliday

ONE MAN MOPOL
A great preacher once said and I quote: "They that walk, walk with many..they that run, run with a few....but they that fly, fly alone". To fly, you need to lay aside any weight so you can be light. What is a weight? A weight is simply anything that pulls you down. Why stay around people that daily seek to pull you down all the time by their words and deeds.
I have come to understand that we most times underestimate the power in being alone. A lot of times we have gotten so attached to the people God used for us in times past instead of looking at God himself. Someone said, "if we do all that we are capable of doing, we'll literally astonish ourselves". Please be nice to everyone, respect everyone, but never be attached to anyone such that he becomes a weight.
Don't be scared of being alone. It could be a blessing in disguise. Remember, one with God is majority. When God brings helpers your way, be nice to them but still look up to God not the helper. Sometimes you need to separate yourself so you can fly. You don't need people that pull or push ( depending on their position) you down. You just do all you can do, and keep doing it. He knows how to send the Ravens your way.
By the way please is there a helper that can send 20million my way?

Life is a competition. Yes it is! Just that its a competition with yourself. Don't try to compete with someone else. Compete with yasef. Strive to be better than you were yesterday. That's what is called progress.
Sometimes we look at other people and use their "success" as a yardstick for ours. That only leads to discouragement, depression and desperation. It also works the other way round. Sometimes we look at other people's "failures" and that makes us feel we are doing good. That only leads to mediocrity and delusions of grandeur. Instead why not look up to God and focus on your calling. That way, you keep getting better in God's time. Learn from others, draw inspiration from them but never compete with anyone.
May God be with us all. Do have a great week! #SLKSpeaks

But I'm finer than Trey Songz shaa.

Its good to take advice. But there are some decisions in your life that nobody will ever advise you to take. Almost all great men in the world took such. Its called personal conviction. Nobody will directly advise you to offer to work for free in an organisation just because you want experience (ko de ni da fun experience). Or resign from your job to start your business (when your mates are getting married). Or empty your account to do that project that only you believe in (when your wife is asking for hair). Nobody will ever advise you to drop out of school (when your father is a professor). Or reject that juicy offer because you want to go and pursue one course that you believe you need (I curse that course). Nobody will advise you to marry that woman that is not so fine to us but has all the attributes you need (ko needi, ti ko ba nidi). I can go on and on...
So quit seeking public approval as a sine qua non for your actions. Let there be space for personal conviction. We might not understand but as long as you are convinced....go on son! If it doesn't work, we will say we told you so...but what if it works, you will be our hero! Go ahead..eat that frog, if the frog is going to be the quid pro quo for your success, it might just be worth it! We will all famz you in the end.
N.B: Please note: FORGET ALL WHAT I WROTE, ALL I JUST WANTED TO DO WAS TO PUT "SINE QUA NON" AND "QUID PRO QUO" IN ONE PIECE. THANK YOU!

Well said egbon! Accurately said πŸ‘ŒπŸ™Œ Thank you @Regrann from @slkomedy - You remember my post on how we in our generation focus on the wrong things.

There is such a thing as wrong advice. Some people advice you wrongly. No...not because they hate you. They are actually genuine. That is what they would have done if they were in your shoes. That is what they call being sincerely wrong. Only God is always right. Hence, you can't always be obedient. Yes he's your best friend, he's your boyfriend, she's your mum but she might not be right.
Years back, I came home with a swollen forehead from a motor accident. I was looking like rihanna. I "gisted" my mum. And she was so scared! She told me to use one pain killer or something like that. I said don't worry I will just sleep! "Ehhhnnn o fe koba mi. You don't know if anything happens to you your father will blame me" (as if that's the only reason she wants me alive lol). She calls my dad. And typical of him, he commands me to go use the drug. "Why do you want to kill yourself?" . I still refused o. I insisted that I will sleep (I can actually be stubborn sha). I could hear my mum say "iru omo alaigboran wo leleyi" (what a disobedient child) as I went to bed. The next morning, I picked up the pain killer. Checked the pack, feeling bad for being so disobedient the previous night. And then I saw, "NOT TO BE USED FOR HEAD INJURIES"
I just put the drug back. E kuku ni pa mi.

@Regrann from @slkomedy: I've seen "what now?" three times. Epic show. What tripped me was not just the jokes. @Kevinhart4real sold out a stadium for real! How do you sell out a full stadium and everyone was comfortable. It still looked classy. A lot of WORK was done. You could even tell he rehearsed severally. Lights went off at the right times, the sounds were on point. A LOT OF WORK WAS DONE. To my colleagues and future entertainers, entertainment is not an easy way out! Its not that thing you do because you are lazy. ITS WORK. When @ChrisRock hosted the Oscars in February 2005, he said that as at NOVEMBER 2004 he already had his opening monologue written out. He took him over 2 years to prepare for "kill the messenger " ( his last comedy special). Yesterday I watched @TrevorNoah on The Daily Show...jeeez..the work they put into a 30mins show though! Epic. I've seen Trevor Noah do 1hr performances in over 4 different countries (Different Continents). Cracking jokes based on their cultures. WORK!! I know I am one lazy guy but meehn I know if I want to get to that level, I really need to change. It takes HARDWORK and dedication to do entertainment. S/o to all Naija Comedians/Actors/Artistes. Wise words from @slkomedy to hold dear to us this new year!! #2017
Whoever you are, whatever you do, always remember that you are not for everyone. Not everyone is going to like who you are or what you do. No matter how fantastic or how pleasant you try to be. Ask Jesus Christ. If everyone loved Mandela... He won't have been imprisoned. Check any video on YouTube.. No matter how lovely it is, you will still see one dislike. No no...don't think those people just dislike all videos! Nooo! They genuinely don't like it. My father probably doesn't think Michael Jackson was fantastic. He'll probably be like "ki lo n kooo?". But he would put Sola Rotimi on repeat any day any time. I know a lot of you love #BodaWasiu for example... But I still get 2 or 3 " this is so dry" "I don't find this funny". And sincerely I dont hate them because i know there are some videos i dont like too. (But maybe i wont comment). As a medical doctor...do you know there are some people that don't believe in western medicine? Hence they dont like what you do. I'm sure there are some artistes or sportsmen or public figures that every other person seems to like except you. We all have that person that we don't really feel. So never beef anyone because they don't really like what you do. What am I trying to say? Never try to do anything to please everyone. Its an exercise in futility. Please God and be true to yourself.

Thanks a lot for this piece @slkomedy I learnt a lot from it

@Regrann from @slkomedy - Lesson I learnt From Jesus and the Centurion's servant:
Don't go to places where your word can perform the "miracle". Some of us go to events that a simple phone call or text could have sufficed! There is value in scarcity. Sometimes we want to go for everything. Apart from it not being too healthy...its sometimes a waste of time and resources. You must go for your colleague in another department's house warming because he said hi to you last week. Or your friend's uncle's burial....or your neighbour's Aunty's wedding because you met her once. If you go for an event and the celebrant is shocked to see you...maybe you really shouldn't have been there. Let your physical presence be valued. Not all the time GO! Sometimes send your word. You think some of these dignitaries are always busy when they send representatives to functions? If they attend all the functions they are invited for....there won't be any value.
Well I might be wrong sha...what do i know about life afterall I'm just an ordinary Comedian.

This was me in secondary school. I was and I still am not the fashion person. I was never the person to disturb my folks that let's go for shopping. Hell No! My brother was the one that did that. I just loved to look as simple and comfortable as wearing slippers can make you. Till now if you see me wear nice stuff...its one of the sacrifices i had to make for my passion. So that my market will sell. Of course if you have a father like mine...you will have your way with that decision. Though he didn't like the fact that I love to roll up my sleeves. He said its irresponsible....until Obama came!! He didn't like me wearing slippers. Apart from those 2 he was happy I wasn't wearing all those "irresponsible" things. I remember the day my brother went shopping and bought "Combat". That combat wey get plenty pockets. My father asked him "o fe lo ja'gun ni?" (Are you going for war?). Immediately my father BURNT it! (No Jokes). Though I didn't really have friends but it kind of made me look down on myself. Some low self esteem of some sort. Because my mates would show up in designer clothes. Suffice to say..most of these kids are from way richer homes than mine. But there was something I used to do... the only way I could salvage my Rep then was to take any discussion we had to academic results. Because I knew that was the only place I had an edge. So I would go "how is school" "what was your result" "do you like maths" when my mates are gisting about where to go to and what to wear. This continued till I got to SS2 or SS3...I just became wiser. I never cared what you thought about how I look or what I have. So I stopped gisting academics because that wasn't me either.. It was just a cover up. I am actually not the academic type. So I became totally real. I wore what I had and I never apologised for it. I even started yabbing people. I was free!! I just became ME totally...and that was when I really found my funny bone!! #StoryOfMyLife #GoodMorning #LookWithinNotWithout #SLKSpeaks #EnjoyYourself

Nigerians generally have a habit of being over critical or over analytical when it comes to our stuff. Movies, music, government, lifestyle etc. For example... Someone comes from nowhere in a foreign movie and shoots the bad guy and we applaud it...same thing happens in a Nigerian movie we start analysing "chei nollywood! Where did that guy come from..who gave him gun? How did he know how to use a gun?"
That's exactly what's playing out here. We were all happy when celebrities around the world joined the #bringbackOurGirls campaign. E sweet us dat year!! Now our celebs are lending their voices to what I think is a global menace...all hell is let lose. If they did not talk now...we will say no wonder they are not internationally recognized.. Local minded pipu.
In fairness to our celebrities...they are always very vocal about our local problems too...but Nigerians will forget na..... since we don't know more than to criticise our celebs. We forget how @officialwaje and other celebs spoke on the Ese saga... Or was Wives On Strike not a film produced by a Nigerian. The movie DRY nko...is that not our problem too.. Ohh @official2baba's vote not fight.. Was that an American problem too.

My point is...let's cut Nigeria and Nigerians some slack....let's be fair on ourselves....
I don't have a child and I'm not based in the US but I will lend my voice by saying #BlackLivesMatter..... #SLKSpeaks #StopTheKilling #GoodEvening

@Regrann from @slkomedy: The broken hearted need healing, the captives need deliverance, the blind need sight..etc. I would have thought he would say..."give money to the poor"!. But he said "preach the gospel to the poor". Hence....the poor need the gospel! The Gospel liberates from poverty!! #NeverSawItLikeThis #SundayThoughts #HappySunday #SLKSpeaks - via #Regrann

TRUST ME....I'M A COMEDIAN
I might not necessarily bear a funny stage name....but trust me I'm a comedian

I might have a seemingly innocent face sitting in my corner and minding my business..... but trust me, I'm a comedian.

I might not talk funny in every discussion we have....but trust me, I'm a comedian

You might never catch me in a funny costume or with a red nose or green hair.....but trust me, I'm a comedian.

When I speak or write you might hear or read some really good English coming from my mouth or pen...but trust me I'm a comedian

When I get on stage I might not necessarily shout out my jokes....but trust me I'm a comedian.

I might not necessarily be a drinker or a smoker or a junkie ....but trust me I'm a comedian.

I know I really don't look it.....but trust me, I'm a comedian

MY NAME IS SLK.....TRUST ME.....I'M A COMEDIAN!!

I had this PHE teacher in JSS2. Pretty young woman..sorry..lady (No Fela intended). Her class used to be one of those "end of school" periods. When your 11year old brain is already closing for the day.
So there I was in her class, simply minding my own business like the loner I've always been. I didn't need a ruler to know I was keeping a straight face. "Salako why are you frowning your face?" she asked calling my father's name as if he's her mate.
"Nothing ma" I replied.
"Don't frown in my class"
Helloo..is your class "Night Of a Thousand Laughs"? It didn't make any logical sense to me so I left my face like that. Yes! I can be stubborn like that.
"If you are going to keep frowning then get out of my class" she obviously wasn't smiling when she made this statement. I mean no one can make such statement with a smiling face.
I should leave your class? I stood up and left.By this time, I was actually frowning.
"If you want to ever come back to this class you must write an apology letter, promising never to frown in my class again"
E gba mi! On top my own frown? Is it your frown i'm frowning?Or is there something else there? (Abi se nkan mi wa nbe ni)
I got home and told my mother. Trust Yoruba women she was so pissed! Then came my father. *sigh* . There are 2 people my father would never doubt - a doctor and a teacher. If my teacher tells my dad I raped her, my father will skin me alive without asking questions.
"I'm sure she must have a good reason for that", my dad said. Why wasn't I surprised? "so you must give her that letter first thing tomorrow morning"
This man just killed my swag.
To cut the short story long, I reluctantly wrote the letter and got back to class.
Few months later, she had an accident and died.
My heart melted. What if I had not written the letter? The guilt would have been crazy.
Looking at it in retrospect, this woman had no idea that I would later in life, make a living from stopping people from frowning.
Till today, every time something gets to me and I'm about to frown, I remember the promise I was forced to make to my PHE teacher in JSS2 and then I let out a cute smile like the one you see above!
Thank you Miss Oyewole. RIP

Life is a competition. But you are in a competition with NO ONE. You are only in a competition with yourself. Strive to be better than you were yesterday. Yes...life is a competition and the name of the competition is...."Progress"

When last did you truthfully compliment or appreciate someone to the person's face. I know the effect it has on me as an entertainer when someone walks up to me and says "you did great". The awards I won in school and those words/tweets/messages etc are major factors that keep me going even in the face of the most stubborn challenges.

If you like someone's suit, if you can, tell the person. He might have been unsure about his dressing and that might just give him the confidence to win the contract. Its okay to appreciate people in our minds but its even greater to let them know that they dress/dressed well, spoke/speak well, u like the way they walk, he/she makes you laugh, he/she inspires you, he/she sings well, you think he/she is organised...etc.
Remember that this, if genuine, is a huge test of humility on your part and a huge source of inspiration for the person in question.

You can put it to practice now. Tag someone/people and tell them what you admire about them.
E.g I think @the_inioluwa makes amazing IG videos, @Kemiadetiba's videos are always on point, I absolutely love the way @officialbovi thinks. I think he's even more intelligent in person. and @tomistone gives me goosebumps with her voice every Sunday (@cozalagos). #LetThemKnow #DontJustKeepQuiet #SLKSpeaks

Fellow Nigerians:

Well its a new era! Its a new dawn. I actually do not have any political affiliation with any faction whatsoever. But all I want to say at this juncture is that we take full advantage of the new chapter we have just opened.
All I'm trying to say is,just the way we have participated actively in this electoral process - from the campaigns, the voting, the counting and the 'celebrations', let's not stop there, let's translate it into our personal lives. Nation building is a collective effort and not just a 'government thing'

Now that we are entering a different 'regime', let's start to do things differently. Let's make CONSCIOUS effort to CHANGE. Change in our mentality and behaviour. No matter how little it may seem. Ranging from deciding to stop shunting queues, to deliberately saying NO to littering our roads. I mean decide not to disobey that traffic light. Try to henceforth respect that police officer. I'm saying change the way you behave.

Let it affect your job/business. Try to do your work with success in mind not money. Try not to be money conscious like u used to be. Don't try to rip your customers off in exchange for a jejune product or service all because you want to make profit. Trust me, the enormity of the impact of these "little" decisions to the growth of the nation can not be quantified.

MY POINT IS... the CHANGE we desire starts with YOU.
Long live Nigeria.

Came across this pic on my TL. There has to be more to life than paying Bills - Light Bills, Water Bills even T Billz (covers face) . I call it Subsistence Living. "So far me and my family can eat and pay our bills". That cannot be why God created you. There are lives to be touched by your gifts/skillz, there are people that you were created to help, records you were created to break and goals you were created to achieve! So stop living for yourself, start living for the world.#SLKSpeaks #GoodMorning #CallMeForTheAccNosToPayYourOffering
