Our gals share the small room! So they can bond! LOL ‘We’ have decided this is fair because us parents are way bigger people (I have my office in the old nursery, which is a den off our master).. someday a genius reno will happen to sort us out!
Really I just wanted to share what I’ve been doing about #HealthyBedding in our house!
We spend a lot of time in bed, so from easy to effortful, here are the #topfive ways I’ve changed our sleeping environments to improve our respiratory, brain, and immune health:
non-toxic laundry products (that free from the common immunity suppressing irritants, carcinogens, and hormone-disrupting chemicals that are in most conventional brands :0)
100% cotton sheets and pjs (if you understand why plastic is not healthy, why have it in your clothes and linens where it is breaking down and being absorbed into your body?) natural fiber mattresses without fire retardant treatments (I’ve found affordable cotton futon mattresses and then bought slightly more expensive woolen mattress toppers for all of our beds, which also have thermal quality - keep you cool in summer, cozy in winter etc.) unfinished solid wood bed frames and bedroom furnishings instead of veneer choices because of the toxic off-gassing from mdf and because real wood lasts a lifetime (these are seriously affordable also, and suit us well because we like to decorate our home as though it is a cottage, because one of our favourite place in the world is #thecottage)
100% wool for both carpet and underlay on stairs and carpet (obviously this is a more costly choice, but again, plastic fibers in our skin? recycled car tires off-gassing in our air? No thank you!) This didn’t happen overnight. It took time for me to source things and figure things out. I just hope that I can help you with a few shortcuts if you are looking for them!
