@mladka45 and @jacobpennertraining took on the first ever CallusFit WOD! Started off with 5x10 back squats, then did 21-15-9 on hang cleans and push jerks, with a 35m 45lb sled sprint in between sets. Total time for the WOD portion was 10 Minutes and some change, with Dr. Ladka finishing first! CHASE THE TIGER 🐅 •

This stim day is another aerobic monster. In this particular program I've used Alactic power and capacity, explosive repeats, tempo intervals and lifting, and today I'm adding in some HICT.

The med ball work falls under cardiac output and it gets your arms pretty good. Objective is continuous movement and managing pace to keep HR in proper zone. I could have put this later, but some of the rotational work his the abs and glutes so it's a nice warm up for the sled, which is when the arms can cool off. Light, fast, low amplitude. .

The sled is similar to day 1, but more focused on capacity. Load is the same, but both work and rest are shortened. I'll let the athlete get as many as they can to make this self-limiting rather than prescriptive...I have no idea exactly how they'll be responding to this program.

We will lif. I used to view it as separate from energy systems training. But it's not. I start with light loads in the front squat (40-60%) and hit a few explosive reps followed by a few explosive (at least intentional) swings on the tire a la HICT. I think the bilateral lifts are the best for strength and with a short time frame I want them to have multiple exposures under the bar per week. I very the intensifies so it's not all maximal effort work. You'll notice I bounce fairly quickly. I'm trying to use a bit of elastic recoil and stay springy. If this changes for the athlete, I'll terminate the set.

Last is an aerobic strength circuit. Continuous movement, light loads, and accruing good volume while further developing the aerobic base. Nothing crazy here...just building capacity.

Even though these two are at complete different skill and age levels, they still learn a lot from each other, both physically and mentally. The older more advanced athlete helps teach and see mistakes in the younger less skilled, and the younger less skilled gets better by seeing proper form. This is a sample of something we do.

First, I think of my goals for this athlete. 1) build a robust aerobic system 2) exploit strength 3) improve movement variability 4) make sure they can tolerate camp .
.
This first day is a stimulation day. It focuses heavily on the aerobic system with low and moderate intensity methods. .
.
The sled sprints are Alactic-aerobic and first so the athlete can maximize power. Next are the main lifts...at these intensifies and volumes an athlete should be able to accrue a significant workload without destroying their joints and further train the Alactic-aerobic pathways.

The accessory work checks a few boxes to addresses alternating function, reaching, unilateral and single leg work, etc etc .
.
It finishes with low intensity tempo intervals, because #mitochondria.

I'll show you the remaining days. I'd likely have "off" days as tempo work and maybe some light reactive skills. .

Life is a game, play the sport. Agility drills and multidirectional speed were all the rage in IMPACT today. Can we agree this was the best/worst #moveoftheday? 😍☠️

Tried to push myself on the sled today and really just put a lot of weight on it and just kill myself.

Unfortunately, I still didn't do it. This time because time constraints. This was 90 kg and I could definitely have used more. And also, I think I should have gone for two trips instead to push the intensity a bit more.
