Powerful. "I don't understand the need to have an euphemism for thighs that are not exactly the same as the models on the ramp, or the cover girls in the magazines. Guess who else doesn't have thighs like those? The models and the cover girls themselves.
But that is not what I'm here to say. I'm here to ask you the need to call the meeting of your thighs when you stand anything else but just thighs.
Aren't they just that?
What are we hiding, then?
The shame of not having a thigh gap?
Why is there a need to shield that meet?
Why is there a need to hide those curvy hip bones?
Why is there a need to call it #thickthighs ?
Skinny girls don't call there thighs #skinnythighs.
They just call them thighs.
And they take pride in it.
Then why do we have shame?
Is #bodyshaming just ours?
However, what disturbs me most is the need to call them #mermaidthighs
Why do we need to draw our sense of beauty from a mermaid?
Is it because mermaids are acceptable in the society just as they are, just as their body shapes are?
But aren't they imaginary, while you are the real, breathing, part of this society?"- @m_a_l_a_d_y
