As a girl growing up in Asia, we should've experienced the pressure of being beautiful and well educated. I remembered when I was a kid, most of my mother's friends would gather around and spend hours to talk about what to feed their daughter so that she can grow up having flawless skin, bright face & great hair - in this case to become beautiful (don't get me wrong, our parents do this because they want us to grow up to be the best). I am well aware that marriage are really important for us Asians. Marriage is the reason that most women want to look good. And in our mind, the "OLD"er we get, the uglier we look, admit it. Which is why "46% of single women feel unhappy about getting older” regarding a survey SK-II did.
The pressure on Asian women to get married before their “expiry date” is only one of many thing that SK-II’s survey brings up. It’s all terrible but at the same time it inspires me to tell all women to stand up for themselves and BE themselves despite what society thinks of them. Be you, no matter what! 😇
