We lost one of our Chaplains at work at the beginning of the month. He had a long life filled with service. He penned a section of our weekly newsletter titled "Something to think about". Since his death we have been receiving daily emails from the union with some of his wisdom. This was originally posted 5/11/2001.
A smile is a very contagious thing so don't leave it on the shelf. The more you give it and spread it around, the better you'll feel. No one is so rich they don't need a smile, so share it as long as you live. The person who needs your smile the most is the one that has none to give. A smile brings warmth and sunshine wherever it goes. If you have it, wear it with pride, for a smile is an indication of the conditions on the inside! It cannot be borrowed, purchased or sold. It is best if you use it daily, but it is not any good to anyone until you give it away. With all the ugliness in the world, it is good to have a smile. It cheers others as well as yourself.
Thank you Chaplain Dave, this will now live on our welcome/gallery wall in our home!
