"Work like a seesaw when doing a single leg deadlift." This may be the best coaching cue for this exercise as a lot of athletes struggle with performing a hip hinge in a single leg stance. An absolute brilliant end to the week. Got a session in with my client @darrenadamsuk, todays main lifts were squats & deadlifts. Today’s focus was on speed, we loaded the bar with 65% of @darrenadamsuk 1RM & a Black band for accommodating resistance. Squats were for 10x3: 1min rest. Deadlifts 8x1: 1min rest. Assistance lifts were good mornings, single leg deadlifts & sissy squats.
The finisher to our training session was the prowler, push and pulls with 150, 200, 250 & finished with 300. This is where @darrenadamsuk showed his determination today! Well done mate!! Had a cracking session!

Hockey Mobility & Core PART 1/2 🏒 Just a demo, but these moves help me a lot with hockey. Any day you can do mobility work it's a good day :) All of these have progressions to them such as adding weight, but before you do, please make sure your technique, alignment and form is spot on 👍 And please warm up properly before doing any of these in full range of motion 🙈 🏒 Do 3-5 sets... 🏒 Low squat with shoulder dislocations x 10 - if a low squat is tough for you already, then skip the shoulder dislocation part and do those separately in a standing position. 🏒 VMO Lunge x 5ea - knee can pass the line of the ankle, heel stays down, don't do this with heavy weight. 🏒 Cossack Squat 5ea - if the deep range of motion isn't there or hurts then start by doing these going only half way down. 🏒 Pistol Squat 5ea - same as above... Stop at half-way 🏒 Rotational Single Leg Deadlift 5ea - the idea is to reach for your opposite baby toe, core engaged, keep knee bent at 20 degrees the entire time. 🏒

• For the past year or so my hip has been getting irritated after I squat and I’m not really sure why. The other day my hip was extremely irritated after doing legs. I was talking to one of the PTs at my job and she asks, “How’s your abductor strength?” Being a typical guy, “Good, I’m sure”. I lay down on my side and she tests my strength. Let’s just say its subpar. Some compensation must be happening. Maybe I’ll be able to diagnose myself
in a few years? Maybe not.
