This is a small prayer and sacred chant we did here in Pohnpei, Micronesia, in the north-west Pacific. We visited a sacred rock face with ancient petroglyphs, known as Pohnpaip. There are more than 700 motifs inscribed on rocks here.
What interested me in terms of Sacred Resonance was a connection to sound that was spoken of in the stories of the area. A legend says the petroglyphs were created when two mischievous brothers named Mwohnmur and Sarapwau stole a blanket from Kitti decorated with strange symbols. The blanket was transformed into the rock with the symbols still intact. It is said two beings known as Manntik and Mahnlap passed into the rock through a magical door and travelled to a faraway land. Knocking with a small stone at the location where the door to the house is purported to be produces a hollow sound as if there were indeed hollow space underneath.
