My cousin from Nova Scotia wanted some of my work (and still wants a Hummingbird ring) and asked me to make her a ring. She’s a lovely lady and also the family historian. Through her and the incredible records that have been kept back east I found out that one of my distant relatives in the pâst was an engraver as well. Perhaps it’s in the blood. We’ll just skip over the part of another relative that was taken out to the hang tree. My cousin had a piece of dinnerware from an old cruise ship that had an artistic logo of a ship similar to what is here minus the letters for sails. It was her idea to redo the sails as a monogram , I thought it was brilliant. I feel deeply connected to Nova Scotia in spite of having never been there. My father came out here to the West Coast as a child and my branch of the family is like an island on the West Coast. All my relatives are back east. This is a piece of steel set into a signet ring in a system I tried to make a go of. It turns out that stainless isn’t as popular as I thought it would be. It’s a bugger to engrave and to fit yada yada. So for #TBT this is my offering. I do believe she has this as a tattoo as well.
