In extended bound side angle or baddha utthita patsvokonasana the upper body should point directly out over the front thigh. Often when binding the upper body pitches forward and downward inside the front leg. Once the bind is achieved bring the upper body back up by pressing into the outer edge of the extended foot. Engage the bandhas by drawing naval to spine and pulling the bottom ribs in and away from hips. From there send all that energy out the crown of the head. If the bind is too intense for the shoulders try connecting using a strap or towel. We'll continue practicing in class this week!
