Having a hard day? Remember this:
YOU are amazing. Being a parent is the hardest "job" you'll ever love. You are a volunteer. You don't get days off, vacation time or sick leave. There are no promotions or raises to earn. Your "boss" can go from screaming in your face and pulling your hair to cuddling and hugging you within 30 seconds... how's that for confusing. You constantly clean up but somehow everything is always a mess. You deal in poop and vomit, most days you are wearing one bodily fluid or the other... and you just leave it there because... because you're too tired/you have nothing clean to wear/you know you'll just get more on you in a minute so why bother. Showers become a luxury. Sleep is elusive. You learn all the words to every theme song on Disney Jr., and find yourself singing, "up in the castle with my new family in a school that's just for royalty..." all day long. You miss being intimate with your spouse. You want to be intimate with your spouse. But... tired again. You constantly worry about your "job performance." You feel like you are letting down everyone else in your life because everything you have is poured into your "job." You can't remember your last haircut and your are wearing sneakers in 90 degree weather because your toenails are so ragged that you are scared to put on sandals.
But... it's the best "job" you've ever had, you wouldn't trade it for anything and you love that tiny, screaming "boss" more than you ever knew possible.
But the sick days would be nice once in a while. 😜
Best and worst part of your "job..." go!
