With me personally, even though I did not know what it was exactly when I just started lifting (age of 14) but I remember clearly I was always subconsciously focusing on something going on in the muscle that I was training... I usually was closing my eyes and imagining the working muscle to get so full of blood and burn that it explodes.
Now I see a lot that people when training some body part not only not Doing the right movement but also their focus is completely out of that muscle... somewhere in the gym or their phone 🤦🏼♂️

Contraction - If you focusing well on the muscle but still not being able to feel it well or get good pump in it) Try to squeeze the muscle very hard without any weight and hold it for 5-10 sec. for several times , prior to main training routine
