Two of Door County's hidden gems, the showy lady's slipper (Cypripedium reginae) and small yellow lady's slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum var makasin). Both species are of special concern in Wisconsin and found in wetland habitats. How wonderful it is to see two unique and rare orchid species.
Getting swarmed by black flies is worth getting a shot of these #showyladyslipper flowers. A member of the orchid family, it's so incredible to see thousands of them in the ditches in Manitoba on the way to the #northwestangle. Did you know it takes up to 16 years for them to bloom?!
