Description: Makino Tsukushi is the only fortuneless student attending the prestigious Eitoku Gakuen. Although she's a conscientious girl, Makino wishes to quietly finish out school without any conflict. However, Makino's school life becomes hectic after she stands up for her best friend against a group of the most handsome, affluent, and aloof boys known as Flower 4. The leader of F4, Domyoji Tsukasa, then targets Makino but she fights right back. And in no time Domyoji becomes smitten by Makino. What'll Makino do now that she's been targeted by F4's leader in the name of love?
Thoughts: As I've said before, Hana Yori Dango is my least favorite adaptation of the Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango. My biggest issue with the Japanese adaption is that I didn't find the F4 members, or the actors who played them, as likable as I did in the Taiwanese & Korean adaptations. In addition, the members lacked a certain authentic feel so their friendship felt slightly underwhelming. Fortunately, this version was still very entertaining. Matsumoto Jun totally won me over as Domyoji Tsukasa. I've never seen him before Hana Yori Dango but I definitely became a fan afterwards. Domyoji & Makino's relationship had little romantic progression so I plan on watching the sequel because I really enjoyed the pair together. Although I like Hana Yori Dango enough to continue with its sequel, I still wouldn't rewatch it (dramas that I'd rewatch are given a grade of Ｂ－ or higher). 🙃
