You know I haven't been able to scientifically prove this. But I'll say that it's easier to retain length. The more coily the hair is, the more fragile it is and more easily it is to break when not cared for. Especially since the coils tend to tangle with each other, even when it's in a protective style. Also the coily nature of our hair puts the cuticles under a lot of stress.

In the meantime, embrace your hair- ALL of the beautiful characteristics of your God-given mane whether coily, curly or kinky- and rock what you got. You know this is what our hair does. Accept it.
