Penning up sheep
Although we don’t normally commence shearing our sheep until later in the year, a small number of our ewes needed to be shorn.
When we start the whole process, I normally just go into autopilot and pay little attention to what is around me other than the task at hand. But on this occasion I decided to whip my camera out and take some photographs. The shearers must of thought it was a hell of a joke seeing me prancing around the woolshed as though I was Ansel Adams reincarnated.
I was pleased I did as looking at the goings-on within the woolshed through a camera lens was a completely different experience from actually doing the work. I was totally in awe and mesmerised by the way in which our farmhands moved the sheep around the pens. I came away not only with some great photographs, but also a greater appreciation for the art of penning up sheep.
