I’ve been noticing this more and more within the outdoor community. When I was in the White Mountains of NH a few weeks ago, a sign on an @appalachianmountainclub hut also declared that they served all persons regardless of race, religion, gender or whatever other arbitrary categories humans have devised among themselves. Nature is for ALL humans. Seeing ourselves as separate from it, and somehow above it, is the lie that tears the whole world apart. We are all just humans, and we are all apart of this world, like the Standing People (trees) & the Long People (rivers) & and all those who live because of Them. Sadly, it seems to me we have a long way to go before humans accept other creatures/beings as having ‘rights’ equal to their own. Perhaps accepting that our fellow humans having said equal rights is the first step on that path.
