Like an unsettled ocean -
layers of the forest adopted an ancient display of waves crashing onto shore.
A delicately insecure mask
of raw beauty.
Maybe they were mimicking the large inlet they saw below.
Shimmering in the mid afternoon light, its blue water gently soothed and massaged the shoulders of the shoreline.
The trees of the forest also noticed the ocean’s strong relationships; be it with the beaches, whales, or boats. It seemed so elegant, so chic, so
The forest longed to have such style as the ocean, so it did all it could think to do
Sure, it sculpted itself into the perfect mold of a wave crashing into land - but it was glaringly obvious that at its core, it was still a rich, vibrant forest.
The forest was disappointed in its inability to look the part.
It craved with every inch of its expanse to have its place in this world.

from the very start.
Blinded by the stories it told itself of the ocean’s perfections, it missed out on all the wonder that was flourishing under its dense canopy of vivid green branches.
It forgot of the relationships it had with the foxes and deer which scurry through its land, their land, their home…
It forgot of the euphoric sights that consume the eyes of travellers when the dappled, golden light is cast onto the forest floor.
