I completed what I set out to do— make my Pro debut. And y’all, I felt POWERFUL up there!! Last weekend was a “tad” crazy, but one I’ll never forget. I want to say THANK YOU...⠀

✨ to my husband, @cody.r.sommer , for his never ending support. To my mom, @lonadowns_mylife for being there to support me in SO many ways this weekend. And my brother and sis @danielparten & @taraparten for making the drive to come watch and cheer me on. ⠀

✨ to my teammates and fellow competitors. The backstage dance parties & bonds that were made stronger this weekend. It’s true what they say— strong women lift each other up, and being able to stand alongside each of you is such an honor.⠀

✨ to my nutritional company, who continues to amaze me with their generosity. Blake, thank you so much for coming to support us. ⠀

✨ to my coaches who walked closely beside me, THANK YOU. @cathysavageofficial, @jendicandia, @pattikimball, and all the other coaches, you all are remarkable women and role models, and I am one blessed woman to have your love, support, and guidance. ⠀

✨ to the fitness industry. While it’s not perfect, I am excited to be a part of a movement that is going to truly shaking things up. ⠀

I may not be leaving with a trophy, but I’m headed home with immense gratitude for this opportunity and a newfound clarity on my future. Incredible things are in store, and I cannot wait to share more. ⠀

T-minus 1 day til thanksgiving and I couldn’t be more excited!! going to spend it with the fam bam and cook aaaalll the food! ever since my sister and I became teenagers, it became a tradition for her and I to take over the cooking on thanksgiving. wish us luck 😳 what are you guys doing for thanksgiving?? getting down with this blueberry fig cardamom smoothie (recipe below) that made every smoothie under the sun seem average honestly. that good. and topped with @purely_elizabeth dark chocolate sea salt granola (how did I not try this flavor before??!). enjoy your day babes!

blueberry fig cardamom smoothie:
-1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries
-2 fresh frozen figs
-1/2 cup frozen cauliflower
-1 scoop vanilla coconut @vitalproteins collagen
-3/4 cup @califiafarms unsweetened almond milk
-dash of cinnamon
-dash of cardamom

Q: Describe what has shaped you into who you are today?

A: Most honestly, my mother. My mother is a strong independent women who has always been so authentically herself. She is a child of Holocaust survivors, born in a Displaced Persons Camp in Germany before her parents immigrated to Brooklyn. She overcame tons of obstacles during childhood and thanks to her perseverance and crazy entrepreneurial spirit, managed to open her own clothing boutique in NYC which she had for 15 years. Now she's a visual artist crushing life at age 65. She's also the healthiest person I know and will outlive us all. She was experimenting with taking my sister and I off of gluten and casein before those were cool buzz words, and she truly was my first health and wellness education teacher (though at the time, I didn't want the knowledge!). Her independence, passion, perseverance, and insistence that her body is her temple have all informed the strong, health-conscious, independent woman I am today. - Shayna, Personal Trainer & Actor/Singer

Getting back into my cleaner/mindful eating groove and it feels so good. 🙌🏻 My go-to smoothie: frozen banana, cashew milk, @amazinggrass greens, and @toneitupnutrition vanilla protein. Top that with some bee pollen for those good B vitamins and then I’ll often add in some @vitalproteins collagen too. 😋😋😋

: "🍗 Feeling anxious about the Thanksgiving holiday coming up?

🍠 Holidays used to bring up a fear of weight gain for me. I can remember establishing a bunch of ridiculous food rules before sitting down at the table, only able to white-knuckle it for so long before I eventually caved, so I get it.
.
🥒 Nowadays, holiday meals look a lot different than they used to. I’ve since dropped the societal construct that I have to eat ALL THE FOODS and DRINK ALL THE DRINKS. I’ve shifted my perspective. For me, Thanksgiving is more about being with loved ones than being with food.
.
🌽 Since I’m no longer stuck in the diet mentality, I perceive holiday eating as just another meal on another day. I eat what I want, stop before I’m full, and then wait until I’m hungry before I eat again.
.
🥕 A lot of overeating during the holidays comes from #FOMO (fear of missing out), but you can always fix a plate of your favorite foods to eat again later. Truth be told, most of these foods are actually accessible year-round. You don’t have to eat until you’re miserable if you don’t want to. You can always make the choice to have more later.
.
🍅 Ultimately, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to eat. But when taking care of your body becomes your goal instead of obsessing over fat loss, your priorities change.
.
🚫 There will be no need for “cheat days” or “rewards.” Those are words used by people who feel restricted or deprived in their current way of eating. Eating moderately means eating exactly as you want 365 days a year, not just on special occasions. Phrases like “live a little” no longer exist in your vocabulary, because your idea of living is having freedom from crazy food rules, punishing exercise, and self-loathing guilt. ♥️
