Celebrating the movers and shakers who work to better our Health.
I asked the gorgeous Louise, founder of Barefoot Wellbeing, a few questions 🌳What is Barefoot Wellbeing?
Barefoot Wellbeing is about reconnecting people to nature, their communities and most importantly, to themselves. It's about healing modern 'separation sickness' at every level. Most of us can feel intuitively that taking some time out and slowing down in nature is good for us. There is now a growing body of research that supports the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits of connecting with nature.
Barefoot Wellbeing provides opportunities for mindful explorations on inner and outer landscapes through nature connection walks. 🌳What inspired you to create Barefoot Wellbeing?
I worked in the environmental not for profit sector for several years. Always inside and behind a computer, I was actually quite disconnected from nature. I was stressed out, burnt out and when I had a debilitating back injury, that was the last straw that caused me to stop and assess things.
Nature, wilderness and yoga played a huge part in my journey of healing and reconnecting. I am now a certified Yoga Teacher and Nature and Forest Therapy Guide. Yoga and Nature Connection are spiritual practices for me that help me to live a more purposeful life in greater alignment with who I really am, my true self. 🌳One top tip you can give readers to start them on their Barefoot Wellbeing journey?
Come along to one of my events! I am running a 4 week series of Nature Connection Walks in Centennial Park in June. The first will be a free taster on Tuesday 5th of June for World Environment Day. You can come to just one session or the whole series. Over the 4 sessions we will explore different invitations to connect to nature, including: • Guided sensory awareness meditation
• Slow wandering in "soft fascination"
• Gentle, breath centred yoga
• Nature sit spot
• Bush tea ceremony
